directly mitigate the Insider Threat for critical infrastructure providers.

The CPNI Insider Data Collection Study identified 6 key issues that should be addressed to directly mitigate the Insider Threat for critical infrastructure providers.
Systems hosted in the cloud allow a better classification of roles. Allowing different users to perform different actions, based on their roles.
4. Lack of Adequate, Role-Based, Personnel Security, Risk Assessment
Cloud-based identity checking system can ensure applications cannot progress without the required security criteria being met. For example in the case of Airports:
• 5 years history must be covered by references
• A valid GSAT certificate has been provided
• A valid Security Clearance reference (e.g. Basic Disclosure, CTC) has been provided
5. Pre-employment Screening
Online systems enable online communications and communities within the system design. This ensures that communication can be carried out both within and across organisationsinvolved in countering the insider threat to ensure best practices across the CNI industry.
