• You will be required to print these placards as you use them. Each placard will eventually have a unique barcode and is time dated as well.

• Offices will no longer be able print up one placard and then copy a supply for future use.

At the Retail Units – Separation Integrity

• Level 18 and above must make container separations

• Containerize separations in flat tubs• Placards affixed to flat tubs• Do not placard individual mail pieces• 99-Mixed placard on the transport equipment

• NMOs withheld from machineable in 99 Mixed container (17” x 17” x 30”)

REMINDER

• Stay with current Portland District Priority/FCM and parcel service package separations for Portland District destinations…any parcel service packages beyond those separations (current BMC - States) need to be sorted by RDC 01 or RDC 02.

Retail Readiness Assessment

• Each retail unit must complete readiness assessment checklist

• At least one week prior to activation or as specified by District Manager

RETAIL OPERATIONS

1 EAS Employees trained on NDC Activation?

2 Craft Employees trained on NDC Activation?

3 Existing Mail Preparation Guidelines updated and issued to the facility?

4 Retail Labels reflect software changes?

5 Facility using standardized placards?

6 Visual aids for separation utilized?

7 Sufficient floor space for new separations?

8 Sufficient equipment (e.g., flat tubs, APCs) for new separations?

9 EAS performing quality control on the RDC separations made by retail associates?

10 Transportation to P&DC dispatched according to schedule?

11 Are HCR drivers combining mail separations at Associate Offices, Stations, & Branches?

12 Conducted dry run using RDCs and standard placards prior to implementation?

Training Specifics

• Who Receives Training: All applicable clerks and EAS employees working at Post Offices. This includes retail associates, carriers, distribution clerks, Postmasters, Managers and Supervisors.

Required Training of employees

Trainer Administrator: Postmaster, Station Manager, Branch Manager or Supervisor
