Mountain Lions live mostly in western United States. They are also called Pumas. They are tan or light brown and have a very long tail with a black tip. Mountain Lions like to eat deer, grass, and porcupines.

Mule Deer live in the northern mountain forests. They have large ears, brown fur, and short furry tails. Deer hold their tails up when running. Male deer are called bucks and grow very large antlers.

The moose is the largest deer in the world. The antlers of males, or bulls, may be 5 feet across and weigh 85 pounds. Bulls loose their antlers in winter and grow bigger ones each spring.

Mountain goats can live on the icy face of a cliff. Their hooves have hard sharp edges and rubbery soles that help them walk on ice and rock. No enemy can follow them to their mountain homes.

Bighorn Sheep live in hard-to-reach mountains. They live in the highest of mountain areas where other animals can’t reach their favorite grass and plants.
