When we hear of Subaru’s the rst thing that pops to mind is: awesome high class rally cars, clockinghigh speeds, taking sharp turns, hair pin corners… but now let’s open another chapter in the Subaruhistory… performance and tuning. All over the world Subaru’s have what we call “STREET RESPECT”.When it comes to DRAG RACING, DRIFTING or just simple STREET RACING, Subarus are NUMERO UNO..

Dar Streets are not safe from these Monsters as well… we have the Subaru Fans of Tanzania… the ocial club forSubaru in Tanzania and we have the Monster Crew…. A group of friends with 8 . . Yes 8 Subarus. Imagine thenoise and the intensity when they all drive their cars together. One ne Saturday afternoon, we were luckyenough to feature 2 members of the Monster Crew. A Black 1998 Subaru Impreza GC8 also known as Vuvuzelaand a Blue 1998 Subaru Impreza GC8.

What started as a usual lazy Saturday, ended up being an opportunity to get up, close and personal with these‘Monsters’. Yes, we almost gave everyone who was passing by Oysterbay a heart attack ... Heads turned, cars Stopped and other subarus also joined in. Some people were also saying “bwana kuna rally leo”.Back to the point - we got to work, and started taking pictures of the car. Donald had arrived rst so we startedwith his car. The Blue Subaru. While the photographer was doing what he does best, me and Donald had a littlechat about his monster. It was imported from the UK and was tuned and “chezewad” with automotive tuninggiants PRODRIVE.

We then left for a test run and before I even had the chance to tie my seat belt properly, we were o. With crowdscheering and people whistling for a moment I thought I was the late Colin Mcrae’s navigator. The 3 INCH FULL STAINELESS STEEL EXHAUST revealed how much power the car had… and yes Donald wasnot afraid to show what his Scooby could do…. Or maybe he was just taking revenge for what I did to him atBreakpoint Bar the other day.. Sijui… The boost gauge was hitting 1.3 Bar and was doing 0-100 in just 4.5 Sec.Yes the car looks like very few mods have been done but don’t be fooled.. or as they say don’t judge a book byits cover.Roughly around 5 o’clock, we hear another roar and this time its Elisha with his black vuvuzela… you could hearthe Big bore through exhausted system all the way to oysterbay hotel.

Yes it looked mean and looked like it could swallowany car that came in its way. The front mountedintercooler shows that it means business. My photographer got to work and I had a little chatwith Elisha… why a Subaru? ‘Well I like something fast,I like speed and I love Subaru’s – It’s like he took wordsright out of my mind.. Donald’s car is faster but Elisha’slooks way meaner… we then got o and continued ourphoto shoot all the way to Sea Cli Hotel.

It’s time to say goodbye… We parked at Sea Cli andenjoyed the sunset… As they drove away, I couldn’thelp but think about the wonders of these monsters. All in all we had a great time, carried out a great photoshoot and simply, a great Saturday afternoon.

It's one of 2011’s most important new cars – and at last, we've been able to drive it!The new Range Rover Evoque is a model that sets out to rewrite the 4x4 rulebook – much like the originalRange Rover did in 1970 – and Land Rover has high hopes for the model, predicting 100,000 sales ayear. Promising Ford Focus fuel economy and emissions, in a package that's actually shorter than Ford'snew hatch, the Evoque is charged with turning the firm's image. Land Rover expects up to 90 per cent ofEvoque sales to be buyers that are new to the brand - tapping into a whole new market thanks to itshead-turning looks and handling that promises to be more hot hatch than off-roader.

As you settle into the drivers seat, it quickly becomes obvious that the most impressive thing about thenew Range Rover Evoque is the fact that it feels every bit as robustly built, luxurious and classy as a fullsized Range Rover. Of course, you sit a bit lower in the cockpit than in the larger car, but the luxuriousand surprisingly spacious cabin doesn’t give you the sense that Evoque is the Range Rover experiencemade “lite”.

While Evoque is small, the choice it offers will be big. There will be three-door coupe. plus a five-dooreditions with two extra doors and a roofline raised by around 40mm. Plus there will be front andfour-wheel-drive cars too. The four-wheel drive, five-door car we drove was powered by a 188bhp2.2-litre diesel which was whisper quiet on the move and provided plenty of punch. The 236bhp 2.0-litreturbocharged petrol engine is quicker but only just, so it's worthwhile opting for the diesel for the economygains. The most economical front-wheel-drive version, which cuts 75kg from the kerbweight, adds stop-startand features a 148bhp version of the same 2.2-litre diesel will be available from January 2012, andemits just 129g/km of CO2. In the corners, the steering feels nicely weighted, and responds crisply andquickly. The all-new electrically assisted arrangement is more efficient and a first for the brand, but it stilloffers lots of feel. As a result, the Evoque easily offers the best handling of any Range Rover, and wouldeasily show the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport the way home on a winding back road. On the basisof this brief drive, the Range Rover Evoque is shaping up to be a winner.

But before we get too carried away with tales of ultra-sharp handling, it’s important to remember thatthe Evoque is still a big 4x4, and as such still feels quite heavy. The brakes need working hard to scruboff speed and there is still a noticeable amount of roll in sharp bends. While there’s no doubt that thismachine is every bit as desirable as that pair, it’s not quite as nimble. But then, where the Evoque lacksultimate on road performance, it should have no such problems off it... This is a properly sorted mudplugger, with extreme departure angles and ground clearance that's only 15mm less than theRange Rover Sport.

DENTS REMOVERA not-too-bright but beautiful blonde was driving home one night when she was caught in aterrible storm. The hailstones were as big as golf balls, and her car was dented badly.Next day at the auto shop, a repairman decided to have a little fun at her expense. "To fix thedents in the body," he said, "drive home, park the car, and when the tailpipe is cool, get down onyour knees and blow really hard into the tailpipe, and the dents will pop out.

Later, a girlfriend of the blonde is driving by and sees her friend on her knees, blowing hardinto the tailpipe. She asks what's going on and is told the story. The girlfriend laughs."Well, duhhh! You need to roll up the windows first, silly!"

DRUNK DRIVERA traffic cop flagged down a motorist and said, 'I'm arresting you for going through three red lights.''Yeah, well, I'm colour blind,' said the motorist.'In addition to that, you were exceeding the speed limit,' said the policeman. 'So what?' saidthe motorist. 'And on top of all that you were going the wrong way down a one-way street,'added the officer. 'I always did have a lousy sense of direction,' said the motorist with a smile. At that point, his wife leaned forward from the ,back seat and said, 'Don't pay any attention to him, officer. He always talks like this when he's had a few drinks.'
