Betty Wynia Memorial services for Betty L. Wynia, 87 of Springfield will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. Crosby- Jaeger Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of the arrange- ments. Betty Lou Wynia, daughter of Issac and Clara (Oelrich) Yule, was born February 12, 1927 on a farm in Bon Homme County, SD. She passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, under hospice care. Betty attained the age of 87 years, one month and 19 days. Betty attended country school west of Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School. She then at- tended Southern State Teach- ers’ College in Springfield for one year where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools in Bon Homme County for many years and also substituted for several years. Betty loved children and will be remembered by many as a wonderful teacher. Betty married John Wynia and a daughter was blessed to their union. After John’s death, she married Donald Wynia on May 17, 1958 at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. Two sons were blessed to their union. Together they farmed for many years. Betty loved peacocks and raised many of them. Upon their re- tirement, they moved into Springfield in 1993. Betty was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Dwight Wood American Le- gion Auxiliary. Betty will be remembered for her enjoyment of dancing, cooking and being a part of the Friday Night Pinochle Club. Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Don of Springfield; her children: Jean Lassegard and husband Duane of Rapid City, Mike and wife Lois of Clifton, CO and Steve and wife Donna of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Ken Yule and wife Lavonne of Springfield; sister Beverly Han- son and husband Tom of Cro- ton, NE; many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much; and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, John Wynia; her parents; sister Elsie Williams and brother Wally Yule. Dorothy Marie Honomichl was born January 27, 1922 in Wagner, SD, the daughter of Al- bert and Mary (Valenta) Thaler. She died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Aurora Brule Nurs- ing Home in White Lake, SD. Dorothy attained the age of 92 years, two months and four days. Dorothy attended country school through the eighth grade. She married William “Bill” Honomichl on March 2, 1943 in Lake Andes. Two daugh- ters were blessed to their union. After Bill’s death on April 6, 1963, Dorothy and her daugh- ters moved into Wagner. Dorothy worked for Buche’s Grocery Store for many years. She also was an excellent steak cook at the VFW on Satur- day nights. Later in life, she went to work at Boom’s in Wag- ner. Upon her retirement in 2008, she continued to live in Wagner until she moved to Chamberlain to an assisted living center. Dorothy later moved to the Au- rora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, where she lived until she passed away. Dorothy was a member of St. John Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary in Wagner and the Card Club in Dante. Dorothy will be remem- bered for love of working and being around people. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and cards. Thankful for having shared her life are her daughters: Judy Oorlog and husband Morris of Kimball and Bonnie Ehresmann and husband Dennis of Moor- croft, WY; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Ray of Wagner and George of Augusta, GA; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. Those who will cherish her memory are her brother, Victor Auch of Menno, SD; niece and nephew, Christian and Regina Auch of Yankton, SD, sisters-in-law, Adella, Hulda, Elda, and Eleanora, all of Menno, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. They farmed in the Bow Valley area until they moved to a farm northwest of Hartington in 1954. In 1979 they moved into Hartington and spent from 1982 to 1984 living in Bella Vista, Arkansas before returning to Hartington. Mary Ann had many jobs from working at Tooties, Ben Franklin, the Smokehouse Restaurant in Arkansas, the Senior Center in Hartington and the Golden Living Center coordinating activities and caring for the elderly. She was a former 4-H Leader and CCD teacher for many years. Mary Ann be- longed to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers, had a Per- petual Hour of Adoration and was a member of the Harting- ton VFW Post 5283 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, grandchil- dren and great grandchil- dren. She had a very busy life with 8 kids, 28 grandkids and 44 great grandkids. Mary Ann is survived by 8 children, Duane and Debbie Thoene of Lincoln, Nebraska; Debi and Steve Lucht of Hart- ington; Connie and Dennis Schmadeke of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Darell and Joyce Thoene of Hartington; Bruce and Clara Thoene of Omaha; Brian and Pam Thoene of Norfolk, Nebraska; Cheri Year of Hartington; Don and Tonya Thoene of Bella Vista, Ark; 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and a sister, Karlyn Lewis of Hart- ington. (Borge) Larson died peacefully on Fri- day, March 28, 2014 in Menno, South Dakota. She was born Friday, Oc- tober 13, 1922 in Lawrence, Washington to her father and mother, Olaf and Sigrid (Greibrok) Borge. In 1924, she and her family moved to Cambridge, Wisconsin where she lived until college. Margo graduated from Au- gustana Academy and Saint Olaf College. After college she received her Master’s de- gree from Western Reserve Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Margo met Mearl Larson at Augustana Academy. Their friendship developed over the years, and they married August 31, 1948 at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church near Cambridge, Wis- consin. Margo and Mearl set- tled on Twin Brook Farm south of Menno. From 1949 until 1962 she gave birth to six children: Peter, Timothy, Naomi, Stephen, Rachel and Andrew. She was a devoted mother, excellent gardener, and a steadfast provider for her family. Margo was a regis- tered nurse and worked for many years at Sa- cred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. Over the years she worked in many nursing ca- pacities including intensive care and mental health. She completed her career at Free- man Nursing Home. In her retirement Margo became well known in the local area for her homemade bread, granola and lefse. She served in all ways imaginable in the church making quilts, leading bible studies, advo- cating for prison ministries and working to end racism. In their later years, Margo and Mearl continued their ac- tive involvement in and gen- erous support of Our Savior’s Church. During Mearl’s last years Margo was his constant companion and caregiver until he died on July 28, 2005. Survivors are her chil- dren: Pete, Tim (Marti), Naomi, Steve, Rachel (Don Holmstrom), and Andy (Betsy); grandchildren, Terry (Sue) Bitsos, Tammy (Loren) Lockman, Lisa Benski and step-grandson Thomas Bit- sos, Nathan Grega Larson, Susanna Larson Holmstrom, Mark and Anna Larson; great- grand children Zara Bitsos, Trevor, Josh and Nathaniel Lockman and many faithful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sib- lings and husband, Mearl. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4. 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Menno. Reformed Church in ruralFreeman, SD. They farmedwith Elmer’s parents in Yank-ton County before movingnorth of Olivet to continuefarming. In 1981, they movedto Menno. Lora and Elmerworked hard and took pridein the caretaking of the twomuseums in Menno and at Pi-oneer Acres. She enjoyedbabysitting, gardening and

caring for the stray cats inthe neighborhood.

Those who will cherishher memory are her brother,Victor Auch of Menno, SD;niece and nephew, Christianand Regina Auch of Yankton,SD, sisters-in-law, Adella,Hulda, Elda, and Eleanora, allof Menno, SD; and manynieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Ann was born onJune 2, 1929 at Hartington toOtto Frederick and Ruth (El-liott) Schwartz. She grew upin the Hartington area andmarried Clarence “Bud”Thoene on September 17,1946 at Hartington. Theyfarmed in the Bow Valleyarea until they moved to afarm northwest of Hartingtonin 1954. In 1979 they movedinto Hartington and spentfrom 1982 to 1984 living inBella Vista, Arkansas beforereturning to Hartington.

Mary Annhad manyjobs fromworking atTooties, BenFranklin, theSmokehouseRestaurant inArkansas,the SeniorCenter in

Hartington and the GoldenLiving Center coordinatingactivities and caring for theelderly. She was a former 4-HLeader and CCD teacher formany years. Mary Ann be-longed to the Holy TrinityCatholic Church, Guild,Christian Mothers, had a Per-petual Hour of Adoration andwas a member of the Harting-ton VFW Post 5283 Auxiliary.She enjoyed playing cardswith her friends, grandchil-dren and great grandchil-dren. She had a very busy lifewith 8 kids, 28 grandkids and44 great grandkids.

Margarethe A. (Borge)Larson died peacefully on Fri-day, March 28, 2014 inMenno, South Dakota.

She was born Friday, Oc-tober 13, 1922 in Lawrence,Washington to her father andmother, Olaf and Sigrid(Greibrok) Borge. In 1924,she and her family moved toCambridge, Wisconsin whereshe lived until college.

Margo graduated from Au-gustana Academy and SaintOlaf College. After collegeshe received her Master’s de-gree from Western ReserveFrances Payne Bolton Schoolof Nursing.

Margo met Mearl Larsonat Augustana Academy. Theirfriendship developed overthe years, and they marriedAugust 31, 1948 at EastKoshkonong LutheranChurch near Cambridge, Wis-consin. Margo and Mearl set-tled on Twin Brook Farmsouth of Menno. From 1949until 1962 she gave birth tosix children: Peter, Timothy,Naomi, Stephen, Rachel andAndrew.

She was a devotedmother, excellent gardener,and a steadfast provider for

her family.Margo

was a regis-tered nurseand workedfor manyyears at Sa-cred HeartHospital inYankton,South

Dakota. Over the years sheworked in many nursing ca-pacities including intensivecare and mental health. Shecompleted her career at Free-man Nursing Home.

In her retirement Margobecame well known in thelocal area for her homemadebread, granola and lefse. Sheserved in all ways imaginablein the church making quilts,leading bible studies, advo-cating for prison ministriesand working to end racism.

In their later years, Margoand Mearl continued their ac-tive involvement in and gen-erous support of Our Savior’sChurch. During Mearl’s lastyears Margo was his constantcompanion and caregiveruntil he died on July 28, 2005.

Survivors are her chil-dren: Pete, Tim (Marti),Naomi, Steve, Rachel (DonHolmstrom), and Andy(Betsy); grandchildren, Terry(Sue) Bitsos, Tammy (Loren)

Lockman, Lisa Benski andstep-grandson Thomas Bit-sos, Nathan Grega Larson,Susanna Larson Holmstrom,Mark and Anna Larson; great-grand children Zara Bitsos,Trevor, Josh and NathanielLockman and many faithfulfriends.

She was preceded indeath by her parents, sib-lings and husband, Mearl.

Funeral service will be at11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4.2014 at Our Savior’s LutheranChurch, rural Menno. Burialwill be in the Our Savior’sEast Cemetery, rural Menno.

Visitation is on Thursday,April 3, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. atAisenbrey Opsahl-Kostel Me-morial Chapel, Menno andone hour prior to the serviceat the church.
