Our campus spent the last couple of weeks collecting pledges for the Boosterthon fundraising Campaign. Monies raised will help fund new equipment for the gym and technology for classrooms. Students were excited about the prizes and rewards revealed every day during P.E..

We wrapped up on Friday with the Boosterthon Fun Run which was held in the gym for each grade level. Most of our students exceeded the 35 lap per person goal! As a school family, we exceeded our goal! Mrs. Lynch's 4th grade class had the most pledges for MES. Mrs. Lynch courageously took a pie in the face as one of their class prizes! Mrs. Barfield’s and Mrs. Lynch's classes also enjoyed a concert by Captain Kyle.

We were so excited to have Kyle Walker as our Boosterthon leader this year. He is a former Montgomery Bear! It was a fantastic Friday!

    Houston Texans TORO Visits SCE

On Friday, April 17, the third and fourth grade students at SCE were excited to meet the Texan's mascot-Toro! Toro held a conference call with the voice of the Texans, Marc Vandermeer, Texan players and Texan cheerleaders. They all gave our students tips on how to have a great performance whether it is on the field or in the classroom. Toro had many healthy suggestions including exercise, eating a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep. Toro even had students and staff dancing alongside of him! The students at SCE appreciated the informative and engaging presentation by the Texans!

The kindergarten team is excited to host Camp Kindergarten during the week of Kindergarten registration. This will be held on Thursday, April 30

    th, from 6:00-

7:00 pm. At 6:30 pm, parents and students that are interested in the Dual Language program will meet in the library. Camp Kindergarten will be a way for incoming kindergarten students to see our campus, meet our teachers, and prepare for an awesome year @ SCE.

Over the past month, the science

    department at Montgomery Middle

School has really gotten into the "spring"

of things with their unit on ecosystems!

    From producers to consumers, students

have gotten to experience the interaction

between these organisms first hand. They

are also starting to enjoy the outside

gardens planted by Mrs. Broussard with

money from the MISDEF Grant. These

gardens will enrich the number of

organisms that students can learn about.

    1. Students are anxious to begin using the Galaxy Tablets that were purchased for the department with the MISDEF Grant money. They will be used for experiences with “Augmented Reality”, web quests, and research.

Last Saturday the MHS Anglers Club came in first at the Houston High School Fishing Conference tournament held on Lake Conroe. Adding to the points earned at previous tournaments, Montgomery claimed the Conference Title over eleven schools.

The top three teams - Collin Garrett and Grant Pietsch in third place, Clint Davis in fifth place, and Derek Pietsch and Paxton Simmons in sixth place – had a combined bag weight of over 47 pounds which placed them two pounds higher than the second place school.

In addition to taking the Conference Title, two teams qualified to fish in the Skeeters tournament this summer. Determined by Angler Team of the Year points earned at each tournament, only the top six boat teams are invited to fish in the Skeeter Six. Jordan Swaim and Clint Davis ended the season in second place and the team of Derek Pietsch and Paxton Simmons ended in fourth place. Only 24 boat teams from Texas high schools are invited to this tournament.
