General
• All Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers of services and
/or Visitors on the Company’s sites are required to comply
with all relevant legislation and observe the applicable TFI
Policies and Procedures while working on TFI sites.
• The following instructions and responsibilities are provided
for your own safety and to protect the safety of our
workers on site.

Instructions & Responsibilities
A Contract controller with sufficient knowledge to
coordinate the job will be nominated by TFI and will act as
liaison officer with the Contractor on all OHS matters
related to a specific contract.

Instructions & Responsibilities
The Contractor must complete a Contractor Pre-qualification
Questionnaire (FORM 1.4.3) and submit it to the Contract
controller along with verification of insurances (WorkCover and
public liability), relevant licenses and safety management system
documentation (Job safety analysis, risk assessment, safe work
method statement or similar).

• The Contractor must ensure that any Sub-contractors they employ must have appropriate insurances, licenses and comply with the Contractors safety management systems.

Instructions & Responsibilities
• The Contractor or their Sub-Contractors shall appoint a
“Responsible Person” who shall be thoroughly familiar with
the class and character of the work to be performed under
the terms of the Contract and who shall have and be deemed
to have full authority to receive all instructions relating to the
safe conduct of the work.

Instructions & Responsibilities
• Any notice given to the “Responsible Person” by the Contract
controller shall be deemed to have been given to the
Contractor or their Sub-Contractors.
• The names of the “Responsible Person/s” shall be given to the
Contract controller in writing before the commencement of
the Contract.

• The “Responsible Person” appointed by the Contractor shall
act as liaison officer with their employees and Sub-
Contractors on all OHS matters. The Contractor and Sub-
Contractor shall ensure that the “Responsible Person” is on
the site during all working hours.

Instructions & Responsibilities
• Before any work is commenced on a project the “Responsible
Person/s” must be inducted online or by the Contract
controller on local requirements and emergency procedures.
On completion of the induction a Certificate of completion will
be generated. This certificate must be carried at all times
while on T&R site for the duration of the project. An
induction refresher will be completed every 2 years.

Instructions & Responsibilities
The Contractor shall ensure that their “Responsible Person”
keeps copies of relevant legislation on the site.
It shall be the “Responsible Person’s” duty to explain the OHS
Regulations and Precautions to all Contractors and
Sub-Contractors Staff and ensure that they instruct the persons
working under their jurisdiction.

Instructions & Responsibilities
If, in the opinion of the Contract controller, any employee of the
Contractor or his Sub-Contractors persistently contravenes these
WHS Regulations and Precautions the Contractor may be
directed to remove the employee from the site and the
Contractor shall comply with such a direction.
