Interphase

Interphase is the stage in the cell cycle where the cell will carry out most of its life functions.

MITOSIS

Nucleus divides into two equal, identical parts. Each part has a copy of the DNA

Prophase

Chromosomes form X shapes, nucleolus disappears. Spindle fibres form.

Metaphase

The duplicated chromosomes line up across the middle of the cell.

Anaphase

The chromosomes split and go to opposite ends of the cell. Also, the spindle fibres start to break apart.

Telophase

Cell starts to divide and begins to form a new nuclear membrane.

Cytokinesis The cell is now ready to split into two daughter cells.
