Mitosis 3
Transcript of Mitosis 3
What is Mitosis????What is Mitosis????
• The process by which a Eukaryotic Cell divides/separates the chromosomes in the nucleus into two separate cells.
• These cells are identical daughter cells!!
The Phases……Interphase
• I is for Identifiable! – In this stages
chromosomes appear to be a big jumble!
• Chromosomes are copied• This stage is technically
NOT mitosis…we are just getting ready!
The Phases...........ProphaseThe Phases...........Prophase
• P is for Pairs• Chromosome pairs are
easily seen during this phase.
The Phases……..MetaphaseThe Phases……..Metaphase
• M is for Middle• Chromosomes line
up in the middle of the cell
The Phases………AnaphaseThe Phases………Anaphase
• A is for Apart• Chromosomes are
pulled apart towards opposite ends of the cell.
The Phases…………TelophaseThe Phases…………Telophase
• T is for Two Cells• A new nuclear
membrane forms• The cell begins pulling
apart to create two separate cells!!!
Can you find examples of each phase?
