This time around, we continue our Delighting Travelers theme with a closer look at the 111th anniversary celebrations of our much-loved chocolate brand, Milka. Milka is one of the world’s leading chocolate brands and a star performer in the KFWTR portfolio. Created by Suchard in Switzerland in 1901, Milka’s popularity quickly grew both in Europe and around the globe as consumers discovered the unique taste of its tender Alpine milk chocolate. Today, the brand’s distinctive lilac-colored packaging and the famous Milka lilac cow are renowned worldwide, unique symbols of the choco- late’s Alpine heritage. 2012 marks an important milestone in Milka’s history as the brand celebrates its 111th anniversary. In recognition of this exciting event, the KFWTR team has developed a unique 111 years cele- bration program and a number of promotional concepts, all of which are exclusive to the travel retail channel. One outstanding example is the Travel Retail Exclusive Anniversary Bag, decorated with historical Milka brand images, and presented free to shoppers when they purchase any 3 (1 + 1 +1 ) Milka products in-store. Feedback from participating stores reveals that this enticing promotion has generated a double digit sales increase. KFWTR also has introduced a series of high-profile in-store activities at some of the world’s leading airports, including Paris CDG, Sao Paolo, Frankfurt and Istanbul Ataturk. Working hand-in-hand with its retail partners, the KFWTR team has transformed travel retail stores into idyllic Alpine worlds, bringing the magical world of Milka to life and creating delightful moments for travelers around the globe.
