His only sibling was as an identical twin brother who was stillborn. In 1948 Elvis and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee, which he called home until his death on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42. Elvis married Priscilla Beaulieu and had one daughter, Lisa Marie, who had a son in 1992 and twin girls in 2008. His musical influences were from the country and pop music of his time and the gospel and R&B music toward which he gravitated. Elvis began his singing career in 1954 and the rest, as they say, is history. As a singer-songwriter and actor, Elvis received some of the highest accolades in both music and film and his worldwide record sales still top those of any other single recording artist. JOSEPH HALL was born in 1984 and like Elvis Presley, his American Indian heritage is from his mother. While Hall knew who Elvis was he didn’t really connect with him until February, 2006 when it was “almost like love at first sight.” He began collecting, listening to and appreciating Elvis music and then began performing as an Elvis tribute artist. Each of his early performances led to bookings to do Elvis tribute shows. He won first place in the very first Elvis contest he entered. This led to television appearances, including NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2008 where he placed in the top 10 finalists. He also performed on the first Elvis Cruise sponsored by Elvis Presley Enterprises. Hall says that his goal is to “capture the essence of Elvis Presley, to pay tribute to him with the utmost respect to his legacy, his music, his image and above all else his fans.” The Ziibiwing Center was very happy to host Joseph Hall at last years NativeFest and are excited for his return to the 2017 NativeFest.
