Hoarding panels installed

Hoarding panels have started to go up in Broad Street.

The branded panels, which help highlight the street’s vibrant nightlife, are being installed along Bishopsgate Street/Ryland Street and Sheepcote Street to prepare for the next stage of construction.

Tram stop reaches ‘bench’ mark

Benches are now in place at the recently installed tram stop in Paradise Street with the area starting to take shape.

You can now get a real sense of what the area will look like when the trams are in operation later this year.

The tram stop in Paradise Street was the first of the new city centre stops to be installed earlier this year, as the extension entered the final stages of construction.

Raising a cup for Macmillan’s coffee morning

The Midland Metro Alliance supported the Westside BID’s coffee morning.

Around 20 alliance staff attended the event, held at the Figure of Eight pub, Broad Street, organised by the bid in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

More than £200 was raised on the day with all the proceeds going to the charity, which provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Have your say on transport plan for 2022 Commonwealth Games

Over the next 12 weeks comments are being welcomed from residents and businesses across the West Midlands on a draft, Games Strategic Transport Plan for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The draft plan provides a high-level view of transport preparations for B2022 and sets out which transport projects will be delivered in time for the Games, such as the first phase of three new Sprint routes, improvements to rail stations and the expansion of the Metro network. With just under three years to go until B2022, it doesn’t cover the exact details of how transport will work between venues or what road restrictions will be in place and when.

As part of the engagement process, Transport for West Midlands is asking if people agree with five principles for planning which are detailed in the plan and how they would like to be kept in touch as plans develop.

Comments are being invited on the plan until Friday 6 December 2019. For more information, visit tfwm.org.uk/
