IntroductionThe purpose of this document is to provide the rules and guidelines
for player characters who wish to join the Wizards Cabal. Thisdocument will list how access to benefits is provided to players
who become members of the Cabal and details material from both
the Wizards Cabal and Dave Arnesons Blackmoor Campaign
sourcebooks.
The following material from the Wizards Cabal sourcebook is
considered open and unrestricted for members of the Wizards
Cabal and non members alike:
All Wizard Spells w/ the exception of Rituals
Both General and Initial Feats relating to Cabal study and
magical heritage.
Membership Requirements1. The Character must have at least one level of Wizard or Arcane
Warrior. Bards who wish to join must be at least 3rd level.
2. Characters cannot have any levels of Sorcerer or Wokan if
they wish to become a member. If the PC decides to take a level
of either of these classes after becoming a member they will be
expelled and all privileges and benefits of membership in the
Wizards Cabal will be immediately revoked.
3. Wizard and Arcane Warrior Characters must expend one Time
Unit and 100 gold pieces as an initiation fee upon joining. Bards
who join must pay one additional Time Unit (2 TU total) to join.
This is to be recorded on the characters log sheet and signed off
by the witnessing judge. The notes section on the logsheet should
read Joined the Wizards Cabal. This will signify membership
until a certificate of membership can be mailed to the player. To

4. Characters who become members of the Wizards Cabal must
abide by all the rules of Magical Law listed in the Wizards
Cabal sourcebook. A player who is witnessed breaking the law
according to the Wizards Cabal are given a warning and a 100
gold piece fine (per judges discretion). This fine must be noted on
the characters logsheet. If the character is witnessed breaking the
law again after the warning, the player is considered suspended
from the Wizards Cabal for one year from the date of suspension(also must be marked on the characters log sheet).
5. The annual dues for membership in the Wizards Cabal are 1
Time Unit (regardless of class) and 100 gold pieces.
Benefits of Joining the WizardsCabalIf the player character wishes to use any spell, feat, prestige class
etc. from the Wizards Cabal Sourcebook, he/she needs to bring a
copy of the book to the gaming table for each episode.
Access to Prestige Classes
While playing sanctioned episodes, characters may have the
opportunity to earn a Commendation of the Wizards Cabal
based on the actions of the party. Cabal members can use these
commendations to gain entry into various prestige classes offered
by the Wizards Cabal. All requirements for joining each prestige
class must be meant before joining.

Must have served the Wizards Cabal for at least one full year,
from the date of the log sheet where the player character joined the
Wizards Cabal.
The Researcher (Wizards Cabal Sourcebook)
Needs Four Commendations to join
The War Wizard (Wizards Cabal Sourcebook)
Needs Four Commendations to join
Must have served the Wizards Cabal for at least six months,from the date of the log sheet where the player character joined
the Wizards Cabal.
At the end of the 6 month period, the player must undergo
the single-handed trial listed in the Prestige Class description.

Access to Research in the Library of
Ardenn
The library in the Cabal stronghold of Ardenn is unparalled in the
North. Cabal members may gain access to its knowledge when in
Vestfold.
When researching in the Library of Ardenn, Wizards Cabalists
gain a +6 circumstance bonus to checks relating to arcane or
history related inquiries.
The Wizards Cabal member can add one additional spell to
their spell focus or spell book as the player goes up in caster level
if they have visited Ardenn during their level progression.
Members can gain access to the metamagic feats listed in the
Wizards Cabal sourcebook (prerequisites for each feat must be
individually met).
Membership within the CabalsCrafting Guild
Characters who are members gain access to all Item Creation
Feats listed in the Wizards Cabal sourcebook (prerequisites for
each feat must be met)
Access to Spells
All non-ritual wizard spells listed in the Blackmoor Campaign
Sourcebook are open to Wizards Cabal members. Spells listed
in the Wizards Cabal sourcebook CANNOT be copied into spell
books of non-Cabal members.
Ritual Spells can only be discovered through episode play. All
ritual spells must be certified to be used during play. Arcane rituals
may only be activated by members of the Wizards Cabal.
Access to a Spell Focus
All members who join the Wizards Cabal will be granted a spell
focus of appropriate level and type if needed. The spell focus
cannot be sold or traded nor can it be used by anyone but its
intended owner. The Cabal member will receive a spell focus
equivalent to his/her caster level as follows:
Spell Focus Access
1st-5th Novices focus (100 spell levels)
6th-10th Initiates focus (300 spell levels)
11th-15th Wizards focus (600 spell levels)
16th-18th Magisters focus (1200 spell levels)
19th+ Supreme focus (1800 spell levels)
When a member reaches the next spell caster level bracket, he/she
automatically receives a new spell focus and is required to return
the previously used one. Specialist casters do have the option
of receiving a spell focus of magically conductive material (see
School Specialization rules in Campaign Sourcebook).
Arcane Warrior and Inquisitor

Officer Titles for Arcane Warriors and
InquisitorsOnce an Arcane Warrior has reached 7th level, she is commissioned
and becomes an officer within the Cabals Arcane Inquisition. Al
Arcane Warriors must show proper respect to their senior officer
by respectfully addressing them by their proper as follows:

7th-8th level: Protector
9th-10th level: Justice
11th-12th level: Chief Justice
13th-14th level: Judge15th-16th level: Chief Judge
17th-18th level: Arcane Magistrate
19th-20th level: High Arcane Magistrate
Inquisitors are also referred to by proper titles by both Arcane
Warriors and other Inquisitors as follows:
Inquisitor Titles
1st-2nd level: Inquisitor
3rd-4th level: Master Inquisitor
5th-6th level: Grand Inquisitor7th-8th level: Exalted Inquisitor
9th-10th level: Lord Inquisitor
Note: When an Arcane Warrior officer takes the first level of
Inquisitor, the previous arcane warrior officer title is completely
dropped in replacement of the new one.
