Doing the work -is Sheriff Clarence Hasty and helpers. The house will be partiallv torn down and the remainder probably burn-ed. if possible. Hasty said.

There has been no report on when the drug firm will begin construction.

Even as the house was .being torn down a mystery developed. The sheriff said unknown persons took away its nearly new furnace.

Mt.,Vernon Mayor Roland Mullins made it official Tuesday night' during a called meeting of the city council-he will step down as mayor after the Dec. 8 council meeting.

Mayor Mullins. who was elected to a third full term last November, is moving to his farm about three miles" south on Sand Springs Road. On Oct. 10. also likely to be heard is an amended complaint by Bullen and Helton Sanitation Inc.. (HSI) of Gray, asking for a temporary and permanent injunct-ion enjoining Bee Garbage Trans-fer Systems (Johnny Eaton. David Eaton. David Ballinger) from operating garbage collection in the city in violation of Bullen's "exclu-sive franchise" with the city. HSI had not been directly involved as a plaintiff in the original complaint against Bee and the city. However, it was mentioned that Bullen. who is president of Multi-County Services. Inc. (his garbage business) did sell equip-ment to HSI to use in collecting city garbage.

According to the amended complaint, on Oct. 1. 1984 Bullen entered into a contract with HSI to collect commercial garbage in tne

.city and Bullen was paid a lump sum by HSI for collection privileg-es. Since .HSI Is . a de facto assignee Jhen Bee is infringing on Bullen's Iranchise. according to the Complaint.

Bee" has placed commercial garbage containers at various' locations in Mt. Vernon, but Bee is not collecting residential garbage. Johnny Eaton reported. Resident-ial garbage is still being collected by Bullen.

Annexation of three areas to the City of Mt. Vernon was discussed at a called meeting of the Mt. Vernon City Council Tuesday night, and the council once again agreed to move ahead with the process.

The council did come up with a general idea of boundaries, but indicated the boundaries could be changed before a final vote is taken

Agreed by the Council, was to have a chart made of the areas.to be annexed and have it presented" at the regular Oct. 13 meeting of the council. •

The areas discussed were not quite the same as .previously mentioned during council meet-ings. One area is west to Ky. 461 and would include the Rockcastle Industrial Park. The council will confer with park officials before making a final decision to deter-mine if there would be "any problems."

Specifically, westward, the new limits would be 1.000 feet on either side of the city's six-inch water main that leads to the park. H-w^s learned that previously the council had visualized taking in aH>

New wrinkle in Burns c Carole Ann Epperson

who has been charged with hiding money that was stolen from a Letcher County doctor will seek a new arraignment in court and change her plea to guilty.

Mrs. Epperson was indicted Aug. 20along with Pulaski County attorney Lester H. Burns Jr. afid Sherry L. Hodge In U.SV District Court in London.

In one count of the indictment it charges Burns conspired to' of the $1.9 million stolen from Dr. Roscoe J. Acker of Flemlng-Neofi in August 1985.

Dr. Acker's daughter.Tam-my.23. was stabbed to death during ihe robbery of their home, and Dr. Acker was choked uolil he

lost consciousness. Two men. Roger D. Epperson

and Benny Lee Hodge were sentenced to death in the robbery.

Bums defended Epperson and-' the indictment charged he paid for his services with the money he, koeut was stolen from Acker. Burns-^vis pleaded not guilty.

Mrs. Hodge, who has pleaded not guilty, has requested that iWf trial be held separately " from Bums. She Is being held without bond in Lexington. The trial on the charges is set for Oct. 15 in London.

Mrs. Epperson's bond was set at $50,000 but she has been unable to post it and is being held in the Laurel County Jail.
