What is the Mattress Factory?

Pssssst! CMU students get in free.

And it’s a pretty great date spot.

Q: So what’s the problem?A: Way-finding can be a challenge; we have multiple buildings and minimal signage within each gallery.

Challenge #1: Our North Side neighborhood is almost as much as part of the museum experience as the spaces inside the buildings.

Challenge #2: Our directors enjoy minimal signage, but we still need a way to share important information.

For example: Visitors should touch this installation.

OUR GOAL: Help museum-goers find out more about each installation/artist and assist them in finding their way around each building and to our other buildings.

YOUR CHALLENGE: Create a helpful and beautiful mobile guide to make a confusing experience enjoyable. It's up to you to make it as fun, flexible, and awesomeas possible.

Last year, the HCI/MF team hacked a Kinect to create a virtual tour

The interface you come up with can be as simple or as complex as you wish.

Ideas: Encourage visitors to share at each step
