Nursery 2 | September 2018

Dear Parents,

How fast time flies we are entering 4th Term. For the month of

September children learnt about the virtues of life: honesty and

being polite. They embarked on the story ‘Mira and the Goose’

and understood the importance of honesty. For children that

purchased the Rigby stars book, I will be returning 4 books per

month instead of the usual 2 as children are picking up in reading

fast enough and the year is coming to and end soon.

BRAIN TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Every month we have 5 different sets of flashcards for

brain training. This month we had: tastes, national flags,

Sentosa beach, horoscopes and music notes. Teachers

are required to flash this card as fast as we can in order

to stimulate children’s right brain.




LANGUAGE & LITERACY

Here’s our children attempting to recognize and read

the words they see on our word bank. A great

improvement is observed as they are slowly gaining

more confidence and reading out the words out loud.

For phonics workbook we learnt the letter ‘p’ & ‘n’.

Children are to voice out the sound of the letters and to

identify the words that starts with the letter ‘p’ & ‘n’.

Some of the words are: pond, pan, pig, pen, net, neck,

nail and night.




华文活动

九月，我们幼儿二班的华文主题是百货公司。我们通过读本和一些活动认识了一些百货公司的物品。如：电器、服装、玩具等。本月幼儿学习儿歌《逛超市》，通过这首儿歌老师展开了一系列延伸活动，带领幼儿去逛超市，老师向幼儿介绍超市里的食品的名称及价格，并引导幼儿选购自己喜爱的食物，在老师的引导下幼儿自己尝试拿钱到柜台付钱。




华文活动

七月，我们幼儿一班的华文主题是水果。我们通过读本和一些活动认识了一些常见水果的华文名称并且学会读读本《吃水果》。我们学会唱儿歌《苹果和香蕉》《我是好宝宝》《早安歌》。在庆祝种族和谐日时，我们唱儿歌《找朋友》认识新加坡有四大种族。看！我们每天上课都唱《我是好宝宝》；我们拿着苹果和香蕉学习唱歌。我们还学会了用手点字读书！还和

幼儿们正在进行手工活动：通过手工活动-商场里，使幼儿对百货公司有了更进一步的认识不仅可以说出商场里卖的物品而且对商场里人物的职业有了初步的了解如：收银员、导购员、保安等。同时，幼儿发挥想象力和创意通过绘画和剪贴来装饰自己的商场。除此之外，幼儿学习百、公、上、等汉字的书写笔画，大部分的幼儿已经可以掌握正确的笔画顺序。加油，孩子们，期待你们有更好的表现。




NUMERACY

Children are introduced to simple addition. They are

required to solve simple addition questions on the board

and each of them are given the chance to mingle and

play with the numbers they prefer.




AESTHETIC & CREATIVE EXPRESSION

In conjunction with Mooncake festival, children

attempted in making their own lanterns using coloured

paper, toilet rolls and glue.




DISCOVERY of the WORLD

After outdoor activities at the playground children saw

these spots on the ground and started asking what is it.

Children used their feet to step and said that it looks like

vomit. Few of them were able to identify as bird’s fecal

matter.




SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Children had the chance to go to a nearby playground

in the neighbourhood and had a great and fun outdoor

time!




SPECIAL EVENT of the MONTH

Children celebrated Mooncake festival and are

encouraged to dress in Chinese traditional costume.

They watched a short clip on how mooncake festival

came about and had the chance to make their own

mooncake and brought them home to share with their

family. After, they took a walk around the

neighbourhood with their lanterns.

The N2s has an opportunity to perform for Skyline II

Opening ceremony on 22 September 2018. It was a

proud moment for us.
