We are pleased to be highlighted in the first list of sanitized Non Governmental Organizations certified by the IICA (Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs) to receive funds under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). It is an enormous achievement for MESCO to be amongst 47 NGOs in the country and amongst 8 in Maharashtra, as there has been a lot of hard work and great efforts being put together. The organization has been there in several newspaper articles, which is a proud moment for our well-wishers whose support over all the 47 years has made this possible. Since we carry the responsibility of welfare, the organization would continue to execute the significant efforts to help the destitute. This remarkable recognition by the reputed agencies is a great accomplishment for MESCO. We present warmest heartfelt thanks to our donors and well wishers for their generous contribution to support the organization in such a great way. We are grateful for all they have done, and we pledge to offer our best efforts in continuing our services. We appeal to our readers / well wishers to put in a word and connect us to various corporates (all companies with a profit of Rs. 5 crore & more who are mandated from this year to spend 2% of the average net profit of the company made during last 3 years towards CSR activities), so that they can partner with us. As it is said that, “There is no better way to thank GOD for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark…..” EDITORIAL ? Rs. 1,50,000/- a year, would help sponsor a Nursery School in a poor locality. (Nursery School) ? Rs. 50,000/- a year ensures professional education for a meritorious student. (HCES) ? Rs. 17,000/- provides dry ration to a widow and her family for a whole year. (Ration Support) ? Rs. 18,000/- per year helps a meritorious child continue his/her education. (Educational Adoption Scheme) ? Rs. 6,000/- enables us to provide a sewing machine to a destitute woman in order to make her self reliant. ? Rs. 6,000/- a year will cover a child’s school / college fees. (Educational Aid) ? Rs. 500/- single dialysis cost for Chronic Renal Failure patient. ? You can help in any of these activities by setting up a Corpus (dedicated to the memory of a near one) and build it up over the years. ? You can send your Donations / Zakat.     We had lot of activities and programmes during this quarter:Education Department:Session on How to Succeed in Examination was conducted on 31st December, 2014 for Std. X by Mr. Suhail Shaikh, Well-Test Engineer, Expro Gulf, UAE, at R.C. Mahim Municipal School. 112 students participated in the session. Top Ranking Students' Felicitation Function was organized on Saturday, 10th January, 2015 at R.D. National College. Shri V. Ranganathan, Retired Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest of the function. It was a grand event of the organization where 89 students were felicitated for excellent academic performance.Ex-students Directory (3rd Edition) was also released during the function. 600 people attended the function.

    QUARTER FULL OF ACTIVITIESQUARTER FULL OF ACTIVITIESClinics Department:Free Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure Check-up Camp was organized at Thane and City II Mobile Clinics on 11th January, 2015 and 1st March 2015 respectively. 185 patients totally were examined during the camps.Free Blood Sugar & Blood Pressure Check up and Physiotherapy Consultation Camp were organized at Kurla Dispensary on 15th March 2015. Total of 113 & 32 patients respectively, were examined at these camps.

    General Aid:Sewing Machine Distribution Programme was held on Sunday, 22nd March 2015 at Bandra Boys Urdu High School. The Principal of Bandra Boys Urdu High School Mrs. Khurshid Abdul Bari was the Chief Guest. All the 39 beneficiaries attended the programme and received the Sewing Machines.

    Ration Support has been provided to 329 families under the scheme.INSTITUTIONS:R.C. Mahim Municipal School:Five sessions on Preparing for Exams were conducted by various experts on Science, Maths, English and Marathi with Std. X students. 127 attended the same.Farewell Programme was organized for Std. X. 127 students were given educational kits as a gift from MESCO.Urdu Day Celebration was held on 27th March, 2015. The event was full of activities.

    PUPPET SHOW AT NURSERY SCHOOL:Puppet show was organized at Angels Paradise Nursery school at Govandi I on 24th January, 2015. Besides our Nursery students, approximately 100 students from Rose English High School also visited the event to enjoy the puppet show, games & eatables. We are grateful to Ms. Neha Shaikh, Principal, Rose English Primary School for her kind co-operation.

    FANCY DRESS PRESENTATION:Fancy Dress presentation was held at all Nursery Schools of Angels Paradise on different dates & days. Parents sponsored the gifts for the students.

    On page 3 of MESCO NEWS (January 2015) due to oversight we had mentioned Hotel The Grand HYATT instead of Hotel Grand Regency where a Christmas Party was arranged for our Nursery School students for which we apologies to our readers.

    Self Defense Workshop was organized for girl students of Std.XI and Diploma on 19th February, 2015 at MESCO Education Societys Crescent English High School, Kausa, Mumbra. Ms. Ghazala Azad and Ms. Nilofer from Bazme Niswan were resource persons.Differential Aptitude Test was conducted for EAS students. There were 28 students of Std. IX, 47 students of Std. X and another 32 of R.C. Mahim Municipal School.Engineering Get-Together was held on 21st March, 2015 at Yusuf Meherally Centre, Panvel where 45 engineering students attended the event.Medical:Kidney Patients Care & Share programme was organized by MESCO on Sunday, 29th March, 2015, for all dialysis patients. Total 56 patients attended the event. Dr. Sandeep Bhurke, D.N.B., Nephrology (Kidney Super Specialist, Ex Professor Nair Hospital) was the Chief Guest.

    Dr. Bhurke provided information on the human anatomy, nephritic syndrome and details on understanding kidney infection.

    DENTAL CHECKUP CAMP:Dental check up was conducted by Dr. Afshan Laheji on 31st January, 2015 at Angels Paradise Nursery School, Sewri. Students from Wadala Nursery School also came for the check up. 47 students attended and they received free toothpaste donated by Indian Dental Association (IDA).SPORTS DAY:On 14th February, 2015 Sports Day was held at M.E.S. Angels' Paradise Nursery School, Kapadia Nagar, Kurla. Students of Quresh Nagar & Bharat Nagar Nursery Schools also participated. All the participants were given books & crayons by the Superintendent, Mrs. Tanveer Maniar & Asst. to Superintendent Ms. Hamida Shaikh.MES VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE:Project Seminar of MES VTC students was held on Saturday, 28th March 2015 at Crescent English High School. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. P.S. Saiyed. Apart from the Guests there were around 90 parents attended the event to encourage their wards and also to know about the projects.CRESCENT ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL:Annual Day & Felicitation:Annual Day theme Impressions and Inspiration for Today's Youth and Prize Distribution ceremony was held for Pre-Primary to Std. X on 17th & 18th January 2015 at Crescent English High School. Ms. Fatima Qamar Salim (Sr. Associate, Prof. Anjuman-I-Islam's Akbar Peerbhoy College of Education) was the Chief Guest for the first day while Mr. Ali Quraishi, our well-wisher and Trustee AFMI, USA was the Chief Guest on the 2nd day. It was attended by several people.

    SPORTS DAY: Annual Sports meet was held for pre primary and from Std. I to IX students of Crescent English High School on 16th February 2015, Ms. Zia Taufeeq National & State Rope Jump Player, graced the Sports Meet as the Chief Guest. All students participated while the 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals respectively with certificates.

    Girls Hygiene and Awareness Programme:Girls Hygiene and Awareness Programme was held in the school hall by Proctor and Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd., for girl students of Std. VI to IX and their parents. Ms. Poonam (Head Co-ordinator) of Proctor Gamble conducted the Programme with PowerPoint presentations and a talk on how to cope with the change they go through at different age in a confident manner, accepting the right Hygiene practices and personality development. Total 160 students & 84 mothers attended the same.

    Mr. Farouk Ali Mahomed (our well-wisher & Donor from U.K.) visited Crescent English High School alongwith Mr. Saeed Ahmed Vohra (Treasurer & Founder Member). He went round the classes and interacted with the students and staff of Crescent English High School and Vocational Training Centre.

    SponsorshipsDispensariesWe received Rs. 50,000/- from Mr. Arif Khopekar towards rent for Kurla Dispensary, Rs.9,31,599/- from M/s. Lesta Packaging towards Malad Dispensary, Rs.3,93,920/- from M/s. Valli Charitable Trust towards Thane Mobile Clinic and Rs.76,222/- from Mr. Tanweer Khalfay towards Kurla Dispensary during this quarter.Nursery SchoolsWe received Rs.2.49 lac from M/s. Tobaccowala Foundation as their balance sponsorship towards Govandi II Nursery School. Another Rs.7,500/- received from Ms. Anupa Tanna Shah towards general donation for Nursery Schools & we received Rs.1,25,000/- from Tanna & Mody Families to cover the deficit of the Nursery School sponsored by them.Educational Aid (annual sponsorship Rs.6000/- per student)We received Rs.61,000/- from Cutchi Memon Jamat of North America, Rs. 1,00,000/- from Mr. Owaisul Hasan & Rs. 50,000/- from Bai Freny Darab Pader Charitable Trust towards Educational Aid Scheme during this quarter.EAS (sponsorship amount Rs.18,000/- annually)We received Rs.17.71 lac towards EAS sponsorship from 24 donors for 98 students, it includes monthly contribution from Mr.Faisal Vahedna under the heading of Md. Ghazi Vahedna Foundation.HCES (annual sponsorship of Rs.50,000/- per student)We received Rs. 50,000/- from Mr. Moiz Miyajiwala, Rs.3,00,000/- from M/s. Seth Jamnadas Madhavji Charitable Trust & Rs.60,000/- from United Way of Mumbai towards the scheme.

    scheduled on Sunday, 7th June, 2015 at Anjuman Islam Khalifa Ziauddin Girls Primary School at 8:30 am while lottery will start at 9 am.

    Sewing Machines (sponsorship amount of Rs.6,000/- per Singer sewing machine)We received Rs.1,77,459/- as a sponsorship of Sewing Machines from 30 donors, it includes contribution from M/s. Give India.Ration Support (ration for one family for one complete year, Rs.17,000/-)We received Rs.8.48 lacs from 6 donors towards ration support; it includes monthly contribution from Mr. Faisal Vahedna under the heading of Md. Ghazi Vahedna Foundation.Give IndiaWe received a total of Rs.2.68 lac from M/s GiveIndia under various donation options i.e. for Dialysis, General Medical Aid and Ration Support.Medical AssistanceDuring this quarter we have received Rs.5.46 lac towards Dialysis and General Medical assistance, it includes monthly contribution from Mr. Faisal Vahedna under the heading of Md. Ghazi Vahedna Foundation.Interest amountWe received interest amount totaling to Rs.1,24,150/- from 8 well wishers during this last quarter.ZakatZakat collection received in this quarter is Rs.7,88,840/-.

    Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)We received an amount of Rs.10 lac as Corpus donation from M/s.J.B. Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. towards Vocational Training Centre.We received Rs. 50,000/- from M/s. Sharplex Filters India Pvt. Ltd towards CSR contribution during this quarter.

    ZAKAT - A SOURCE TO ALLEVIATE POVERTYPlease donate your Zakat to MESCO which has been working over last 47 years to reduce suffering of the needy by collecting Zakat and distributing to the eligible recipients through its Educational-Aid, Medical-Aid and Poverty Relief Schemes.

    Participation in Mumbai Marathon 2015MESCO participated in Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, which was held on 18th January, 2015. The splendid event was executed excellently, all 41 runners participating for MESCO completed their race. We were able to raise Rs.3,77,850/- through this event which has been utilized towards Educational Adoption Scheme, High Cost Educational Scheme, Sewing Machine and Ration Support Schemes of the organization.
