Working With MEn’S ShEDS The Ulverstone Men’s Shed has been actively supported by the Lions Club of Forth Valley since its opening in late 2010. This club recognized early on the contribution the Shed would make to the local community and jumped in with a donation of $1200 to stock up on equipment. Since then, this alliance has allowed the Shed to construct park bench seats and host three community events (catered for and funded by the classic Lions BBQ). The association between these two great community centred organisations means that many Forth Valley Lions are now regular Shed visitors and one member is currently on the Ulverstone Men’s Shed Management Committee. “Our Club is likely to provide ongoing support and services to the Ulverstone Men’s Shed in the future.” Bill Lander Secretary Lions Club of Forth Valley Inc. Working With MEn’S ShEDS

The Ulverstone Men’s Shed has been actively

supported by the Lions Club of Forth Valley since its opening in late 2010. This club recognized early on the contribution the Shed would make to the local community and jumped

in with a donation of $1200 to stock up on equipment. Since then, this alliance has allowed the Shed to construct park bench seats and host three community events (catered for and funded by

the classic Lions BBQ).

Lions Club Donation Makes Lane Cove Men’s Shed Safer Safety improved by Lane Cove Lions

SAFETY has been improved for Lane Cove Men’s Shed members after the Lane Cove Lions Club donated two pieces of woodworking equipment.

The club recently donated a new bench oscillating spindle sander and a 2hp dust extractor for the shed.

Men’s Shed member Ted Donnelly said the new sander will help members of the shed improve the finish of their woodwork while the extractor will help safety aspects of the work by removing dust.

“We have needed these items for some time and these gifts from the Lions Club will provide members with extra capabilities and permits some work to be carried out with greater safety,” he said.

Lions Club member Peter Creek said the club raised money for the equipment from a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Warehouse in Artarmon earlier this year.

Lions Club president Stephen Fitzpatrick said the donation was an example of the club working with local businesses to help individuals and organisations to achieve their goals.

The Lions of Port Macquarie – Tacking Point

have a very special connection with Hastings

Men’s Shed.

PDG Mal Merrick and Lion Simon Abell have

taken on a major role in the management of the

Shed and now both organizations support each

other in their projects.

Lions have commissioned “the Shed” to build a

wooden trolley, to assist a young boy with

cerebral palsy and is presently lending a hand

with the “Wandering Path” at Port Macquarie

Base Hospital.

“A healthy relationship exists between our two

organisations, to our mutual benefit...”
