Dr. Kevin E. Bonine

Dr. Kevin E. Bonine, Director of Education & Outreach at Biosphere 2 and faculty in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, studies reptiles and amphibians in our Sonoran Desert region. For more than 20 years he has worked with students and colleagues to better understand how frogs cope with a changing environment, how Gila monsters respond to urbanization, and how to get the public more interested in these charismatic and misunderstood creatures. He also strives to get all students interested in science, to effectively communicate the importance of science to the public, and to promote evidence-based decision making. Kevin has received the UA Distinguished Early-Career Science Teaching Award, is a Faculty Fellow of the Haury Program in Environment and Social Justice, is a Flinn-Brown Fellow with the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership, and serves on the Boards of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Friends of Saguaro National Park, and the Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans

(CEDO) in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. Dr. Bonine has BA/BS in Economics/Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. His MS and PhD in Zoology are from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
