Timetable Changes for 2018Good news everyone! Starting in 2018 MTC Ringwood will be running Friday afternoon classes for Musketeers, Juniors and Seniors. We will also be adding a Competition & Grading class on Saturday morning. On Thursday(& Friday) we will be running a combined Seniors/Junior class. This way parents & relatives can also join their younger students to learn the same syllabus. Unfortunately due to time constraints and lack of attendance we’ve decided to close down the Weapons classes, for now. We’ll review the demand for those classes next year. The Weapons program will be only available for the Black Belt classes. The new 2018 timetable is on page 2 of this newsletter, and also available on the website.

FIGHTCLUB
Congratulations to the amazing fighters at November’s Fight Club this term. Needless to say they were very impressive and it was great to see the new upcoming talent. We had 62 fighters all up (32 boys and 30 girls.) Broken up into two mixed teams the scores were evenly matched throughout the event. The Blue team scored 848 and just nudged ahead of the Red team on 828. A big thank you to the event organisers, scorers, referees, coaches, and parents who stayed to support and cheer on the fighters. Keep an eye out for posters for 2018’s events. We will be running Fight Club on either the fourth or fifth week in each term. You can always get the latest information on the MTC Taekwondo (taekwondo.com.au) and Martial Arts Training Company (martialarts.com.au) websites. Please note that the Fight Club venue in 2018 will alternate between Ringwood and Glen Waverley. Keep an eye out for the posters.
Gradings and Belt PromotionsPlease note it is not automatic that students will grade at the end of every term. Students are invited to grade by the Head Instructor once they are ready. Generally speaking to be eligible to sit a full belt grading the student will have attended at least 70% of their scheduled classes during the term. In addition, Students are only invited to grade if the Head Instructor is confident the student will pass the grading at a sufficient standard. This means the student must not only know and demonstrate the grading material, but also have the required skill level. Factors are taken into account include not only physical skills, but also attitude, general knowledge, presentation, etiquette, dedication, time spent helping in class and contribution to the club. Other factors taken into account include the age of the student, any physical injuries or other disadvantages the student may have. Prior martial arts experience and general aptitude are factors which may accelerate the student's progress. In cases where the student has missed too many classes or has not quite reached the level required they may be invited to sit a part grading, where they only have to demonstrate some of the grading material. When in doubt please discuss with the Head Instructors.
Student Section (Website)Our student section harbours a heap of Taekwondo and Martial Arts material. Ranging from the syllabus we teach, to the Poomsae patterns, newsletters, information for Team Leaders and Weapons. We’re always adding more to the Student area. However if you think we’re missing some useful information that can help you with your Martial Arts journey, please let one of the instructors know, or provide feedback to MTC reception. We’re always happy to help.

Thank you to everyone who came along to Movie Night. We had a fantastic time. There was lots of yelling, singing, dancing, fun, prizes, snacks, hot-dogs + fruit, laughing and somewhere in all of that, we even had time for a movie. A huge thank you to Jamie for hosting the event, and also Paul, Julian, CJ and Emily.
