PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Congressional Delegation | Crash Course Gov-ernment and Politics Streaming video, Senior High, 00:06:11, 2015

Congressional delegation is when congress gives

or delegates a power to the executive branch

through legislation. The president has a lot of

stuff to do as the chief executive, and as much as

Americans like to talk about personal responsibil-

ity, the president can't really do all this stuff

alone because it's a huge job!

Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances | Crash Course Government and Politics Streaming video, Senior High, 00:08:30, 2015 In which Craig Benzine teaches you about the

U.S. government's separation of powers and the

system of checks and balances. In theory, the

legislative branch, the executive branch, and the

judicial branch are designed to keep each other in

check, and to keep any branch from becoming

too powerful. In reality, the system was designed

to keep the president from becoming some kind

of autocrat. For the most part, it has worked.

Political Campaigns | Crash Course Government and Politics #39 Streaming video, Senior High, 00:09:35, 2015 Political campaigns are a pretty big deal in the

United States. For instance, the 2012 presidential

election clocked in at the most expensive ever-at

around $6 billion dollars! Needless to say, money

plays a very big role in American elections. In this

episode, we take a look at why we have cam-

paigns in the first place, why the campaign sea-

sons run for so long, and why campaigns cost so

much.
