Women’s  Lifestyle  magazine

Brief...  “You  have  been  commissioned  by  the  Northern  Echo  to  produce  a  new  magazine  or  newspaper  product.  Your  product  could  be  in  any  style  or  genre  but  it  must  be  self  =inanced  through  sales  or  advertising.  You  must  also  produce  your  magazine  for  a  speci=ied  audience  segment  within  the  16  to  24  age  group.”

PCC

The  PCC  (press  complaints  commission)  regulates  the  content  of  magazines  and  newspapers.  I  have  created  my  own  5  golden  rules  to  which  I  have  followed  when  creating  my  magazine  and  article.

Things to consider...  1. Ensure  I  have  permission  from  models  and  interviewees  before  publishing.

2. Before  taking  photos  outside,  I  will  gain  permission  from  landowners

3. I  need  to  ensure  that  the  photos,  formality  of  the  article  and  language  used  in  the  article  are  all  suitable  for  the  target  audience.

4. Using  a  variation  of  register  in  the  articles.

5. Ensure  photos  and  language  are  age  appropriate.

My USP

As  well  as  choosing  aspects  of  other  Women’s  Lifestyle  magazines,  such  as  fashion  and  beauty,  this  magazine  also  determines  the  audience  to  have  their  own  opinions,  advice  and  criticisms  that  will  be  presented  with  each  article.  By  doing  this  it  will  enable  young  people  to  socialize  with  others  about  their  likes  and  dislikes.

Mock up process

I  created  two  mock  up  DPS’s  to  test  on  my  target  audience  and  therefore  receive  feedback  and  choose  the  one  that  works  best.

Mock up 1...

Mock ups

Positives DPS  links  to  the  article  topic  e.g.  imagery  and  colour  scheme    Informative  article      Polaroid  images  link  well    to  the  festival  theme

Negatives  A  lot  of  blank  space      Title  is  too  small  and  blends  in  with  the  background      Coral  text  colour  blends  in  with  white  background

Feedback

A  lot  of  blank  space    Creative  use  of  imagery      Images  relate  to  the  article
