Medial Communication
• Social Media is a group of internet based applications that are build on ideological and technological foundations.
• They allow the creation and exchange of user generated content.
• this depends upon mobile and web based technologies to create highly interactive platform.
Social media communication takes two forms:-
• First is company to consumer in which company may establish a connection to a consumer based on its location and provide reviews about a location nearby.
• The second is user generated content: for eg. Mc Donalds offers $5 $10 gift cards to 100 users randomly checking in their one of the restaurants..
This promotion will increase check inns by 33% resulted in over 50 articles and blog posts , and promoted several news feeds and twitter messages.
Social media and interpersonal communication
• Social media certainly affects how we engage with one another across all venues and ages.
• There has been a shift in the way of communication rather than face to face interaction we are tending to prefer mediated communication.
• We’d rather mail than meet ; we’d rather text than talk on phone.

• Our interactions on social media are becoming weak ties: that is we don’t feel as personally connected as with the other ways of communication.
• So when we are communicating more.. We may not be building stronger relationship.
• We can find information overload and many people cannot handle them.

Future Prospects
• They will continue to increase the volume of the human communication process, and we will continue to learn how to use them for good and for bad.
• We must remember that social media is really only a decade old. That’s very young in the history of communication technology. It’s been influential, but it hasn’t really settled into a routine yet. As a society we’ll be OK—we’ve always adjusted to new technology. So whether it’s wearable communication media, such as Google glasses, or more cloud computing, we’ll change and adapt.”
