Media Camera Shots

• High angle shot – This is a shot where the camera is usually above the character in shot at a high angle.

Used in TV and films this shows as the audience is looking down on a character and to show their unimportance.

• Low angle shot – This is a technique where the camera is positioned below an object or character.

• This is used in all media types and this is used for when the audience looks up on a character and to show their importance.

• Extreme long shot – also know as an establishing shot. This shot is a wide shot of an location or a person from a distance.

• Used in all forms of media this can be used to show the where the scene is.

• Long Shot – A shot where a character can be seen form head to toe.

• Used in all forms of media this can be used to see the entirety of the character and if the character is using a prop then It can be seen in a long shot.

• Medium long shot – this is when a character can be seen from head to knee.

• Used in all media types this can be used when there is a specific prop being used and the may want to get a close up on the prop.

• Medium shot – A shot where someone is seen from head to waist.

• This shot can be used in all media types and this can be used to show the scene and the characters in one scene.

• Close up – is a shot that shows only the characters face.

• This can be used in all media types and can be used when the audience can see the characters facial expressions.

• Extreme close up – when a single feature is in the image.

• Used in all media this can be used to show the audience a specific type of movement e.g. eye twitching.

• Point of view – a shot of a characters point of view.

• Used in TV and Films this is used when the audience is put in the characters shoes and give them a better idea of what is happening in the scene.

• Two Shot – A shot with two people in.• This is used ion all media and it can be used

for when two people are doing something together in a scene or it could give the audience an idea of the characters in the scene e.g. if the two characters are related.

• Over the shoulder shot – A shot in which we see one character over the shoulder of another character.

• Used in films and TV this can be used to frame an image or give another point of view for the audience instead of giving just one point of view.
