15. INDIRECT ASSESSMENT FOR CLOs

The students have been given the course syllabus and the course information in

the first class. The CLOs were explained at the first meeting of semester, also, at

the beginning of each topics.

The objectives of the chapter are highlighted first before starting the chapter. The

exams and homework problems are listed in front of each question, what is the

CLOs assessed by the question.

The following survey is given to all student at the last lecture, one of ABET

department member distributed the survey and explained to student before

starting to fill it.

The data is collected and summarized in the following form.

A. Outcome 3c: Assessment tool #1

Assessment Results (direct measures) 2014: In this course the performance indicators for

outcome 3c were evaluated directly through midterm and final exams. The results for all

performance indicators are collected. The percent of students that demonstrated each indicator

for assessment tool #1 were as follows: Indicator #1-75%; Indicator #2-50%; Indicator #3-50%;

Indicator #4-75%; Indicator #5-75%; Indicator #6-25%. Based on the analysis of the above

results students are capable to design problem in accepted way but they are not capable to

interpret the results.

C. Outcome 3c: Overall

Assessment Results (direct measures) 2014: For the summative assessment of the machine tool

design, most of performance indicators were achieved in both of assessment tools. This is due to

many reasons, the main reason is the limited number of student in the class (4 students); It gives

them more chances to discuss and cooperate during the class, the other one that students work as

a team in the tutorials and participate during the lectures. Some of performance indictors were

not achieved, this is due to low-level of some students.
