Problem 1 (30 points): The cable and pulley system shown is used by a camper to hoist a backpack into a tree
to keep it out of the reach of bears. If the weight of the backpack is W = 60 lb, determine the tension in cables AB and AC.
Problem 2 (35 points): The object at D is supported by boom AO and by cables AB, AC, and AD, which are
parallel to the x, y, and z axes, respectively. If the mass of object D is mD = 100 kg, determine the forces
supported by the boom and the three cables.
