SUBJECT : Observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT)

Attached is a letter dated 13 June 2016 from Secretary Felipe L. Rojas, Jr., Chairman, Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) announcing the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) on 26 June 2016 with the theme, "LISTEN FIRST — Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe."

The program for the IDADAIT 2016 will be held at the Training Hall, Public Safety Office, Naga City on Sunday, 26 June 2016 at 8:00 a.m.

In this regard, you are hereby enjoined to undertake activities geared towards the attainment of DDB goals by way of promoting the event and the campaign message through:

Putting-up streamers/banners in strategic places in your respective offices; Posting of the event and its theme on your electronic billboard, if any; and Participation of your staff in Bicol Region during the Opening Ceremonies.

For guidance and appropriate action.

Dear Secretary Caparas:

Pursuant to the United Nations declaration dated December 7, 1987 and Presidential Proclamation No 284, the Dangerous Drugs Board is once again spearheading the nationwide observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) on 26 June 2018. This event will be observed simultaneously by all U.N. member countries.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) selects themes for the International Day and launches campaigns to raise awareness about the global drug problem For this year, we will be carrying the theme "LISTEN FIRST - Listening to Children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe".

The program for the IDADAIT 2018 will be held at the Training Hall, Public Safety Office, Naga City on 26 June 2016 (Sunday), at 13:00am This year's event aims to identify the responsibilities of the government and different sectors in the fight against the drug problem, to create awareness on the dangers and ill-effects of dangerous drugs, to develop peer support networks among service providers and recovering drug dependents (RDD) beneficiaries, as well as to promote unity within the advocacy of treatment and preventive education.

In this connection, may we respectfully request your department to undertake activities that are geared towards the attainment of our goals by way of promoting the event and the campaign message through:

Putting-up streamers/banners in strategic places in your agency (See attached template);

Posting of the event and its theme on your electronic billboard (if any); and

Participation of your staff in Bicol Region during the Opening Ceremonies

Attached herewith for your consideration is a proposed Department Circular enjoining officials of various offices under your department to participate actively in the said event.
