Minister Search Committee Listening Sessions

MSC Listening Session 1 was held in Fellowship Hall this past Sunday, May 23. We had about 50 in-persons attenders and 10 others participating via ZOOM. The session began with a brief report from the MSC of the survey results. Survey input was received from 63 participants. The committee learned from this input that the church is looking for a musically trained leader with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in music and about 5-9 years of experience. This leader will be comfortable with a blended style of worship (traditional hymns and modern choruses) and also interested in leading an age-graded choir program from children through senior adults. Another important goal will be to find someone who also has experience in and a desire to build a strong youth ministry. After this brief overview, the MSC listened to general questions and comments from the group as a whole. This general listening session was followed by breakout

listening sessions at individual tables and on ZOOM led by the members of the MSC. The MSC will take the survey results and the information gleaned from these listening sessions and use it to develop a job description for our ministry candidate(s). Once we have a clear job description in place, we will begin the process of advertising the position through various channels and of receiving resumes from candidates. The committee is working together to begin this next phase of the search process in June. Stay tuned for more details as they develop. MSC Listening Session 2 – If you missed the listening session this past Sunday, you have a second chance. There will be another session this Wednesday, May 26 at 6:00pm in Fellowship Hall. Note that the time has been moved back to 6pm to allow choir members to make it to choir practice at 7pm. The format and purpose of this second session will be the same as in the first session. Session 2 will also be available on ZOOM for those who wish to participate in that mode. A link to MSC Listening Session 2 is available on the church website or you can dial in on (301)715-8592 with Meeting ID: 860 4759 8247 and Passcode: 515119. Ray and Dana Duncan LBA Offering – We received $1,140.00 which far exceeded this year’s goal of $500. Thank you for your generous support of this annual offering to help our Lebanon Baptist Association with mission trips, pastor needs, disaster relief, local missions, and association building maintenance. Glory to God!

Lebanon-to-Lebanon Camp-in-a-Box – Thank you for your support for this special mission project with our ministry partners in Lebanon, the Baptist Children and Youth Ministry (BCYM). BCYM set a goal of sending out 2,000 Camp-in-a-Box kits this summer to children and youth in the country of Lebanon. You have given $410 which will provide a dozen boxes. Now pray for BCYM workers as they prepare and send these boxes and for those who receive the boxes to respond with faith and joy to the good news of Jesus Christ.
