Class Placement – Student Information Survey As the end of the school year approaches, many students and parents start looking to the next school year. Teachers start planning for the next year, as well. After a year of teaching their students, teachers end up with lots of important knowledge about each child in their care that year, including academic strengths, challenges, and social dynamics. In addition, teachers know their colleagues well, and are able to match students with teachers in a way that best fits the needs of each student and the class. Much care is put into the placement of students into classes for the next grade level, by individual teachers, grade level teams, and administration. Teachers gather information about their new students at the beginning of the school year. However, if you would like to provide further information about your student to inform the process, please stop by the office to complete a Student Information Survey by Friday May 5th. While we appreciate parent feedback about their child(ren), we do not accept requests for specific teachers.

No Travel Independent Study Offered in May Per the Rocklin Academy Parent & Student Handbook, independent study for travel or other unexcused reasons will not be offered during the last month of the school term and the absences with be unexcused. Students with three or more unexcused absences in one school year will be classified as truant per California Ed Code. For more details please reference the Attendance, Chronic Absence and Truancy Policy section of the Parent & Student Handbook.

By, Keri Reno Our weather has finally started to warm up with temperatures soaring, this week, into the 90’s. While many of us enjoy basking in the heat your student’s iPad battery does not. According to Apple, “It’s especially important to avoid exposing your device to ambient temperatures higher than 95° F (35° C), which can permanently damage battery capacity.” Next time you need to make a stop, on the way home from picking your student up, perhaps take the iPad with you instead of leaving it in the hot car.

Clothing Donations Needed:

We are looking for boy and girls pants, shorts and underwear in sizes 5-10. We would appreciate any donations so that we are able to provide a change of clothes to students if they require one. Thank you!

Reporting an Absence: If your student will be absent or will be arriving late to school, please notify the school in one of the following ways by 8:30 AM:

Frequently asked questions and answers: Can I be in more than one act? You may only choose to be in one act. The exception to this is 6th grade where they can have one act as well as take part in the grade level performance. If I would like to play the piano, will I have access to the piano at try-outs? A piano will not be available but we will have a keyboard for try-outs. We realize this is not ideal but we take that into consideration. The school piano will be available for dress rehearsal and the show. Can we bring in the music (CD) later? No, all music must be no longer than 2 minutes and cut on an individual CD. Please mark it clearly and have it ready to submit the same day as try-outs. Please take into consideration that when you are editing, please make sure all lyrics are appropriate. Do we need to turn in one form or more for group performances? Please turn in one form for each performer. These forms should be turned in together as a packet and stapled. All members of the group must be accounted for in the packet. Do I need to wear a costume for try-outs? You do not need costumes for try-outs. Please have them ready for dress rehearsal. Do I need to stay for the whole try-outs and dress rehearsal? Plan to be available for the whole try-outs and dress rehearsal.
