Perfect Attendance First Trimester Perfect Attendance recognition is awarded to students who achieved zero absences and three or fewer

tardies during each trimester. When a student is signed out early or misses more than thirty instructional minutes of school in the course of a school day (not including lunch or recess), it is coded in the attendance

Indoor Recess Dear Rocklin Academy Families, I wanted to take a moment to reach out regarding the air quality due to the current wildfires in our state. Yesterday, we had indoor recess for all of our students due to the poor air quality outside. I will continue to monitor the AirNow website for the Roseville/Rocklin area each day, and throughout the day, to assess the air quality. Traffic Study At November 8th’s Rocklin Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting, the proposed Long Term Housing Agreement for Rocklin Academy Turnstone and Meyers was discussed. At this meeting RUSD’s board directed their staff to conduct a traffic study. This traffic study began on Tuesday, November 13th by the officials working with RUSD. The cameras that you see on tripods, and the individuals videotaping, belong to a 3rd party company conducting the study.

The early bird price for the basic softcover yearbook will be $15 until December 31. Starting January 1st the regular price will be $16 until our order deadline of April 14th. If there are any extras yearbooks available after our deadline, the price for that limited quantity would be $20.

Unfortunately, the yearbook flyers that came home with your student are not completely accurate. The office will not be accepting orders and checks. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. We will be receiving new, corrected flyers shortly.

Yearbook Cover Contest! The Yearbook Committee invites all students to create a drawing to promote the 2018-19 yearbook

theme “Infinite Possibilities”

One winner from each grade will have their winning entry printed on the back cover of the yearbook, and all entries will be included throughout the book.

The most creative entry will also become the cover of our 2018-2019 yearbook!

This year’s theme: “Infinite Possibilities”

CONTEST RULES:

• Use a 7½ x 10 1/2 -inch drawing space in portrait orientation (create a picture taller than it is wide).

• Do your best to fill up the entire page. • Make the artwork as colorful as possible.

• Keep in mind our school colors, forest green and gold, and our school mascot, the eagle.

• Artists may use crayons, markers, pastels, paint, colored pencils, or a mix of these mediums.

• Please put your name and your teacher’s name on the BACK of your drawing.

• Make sure to incorporate our school name Rocklin Academy Turnstone, the year 2018-2019 and the theme “Infinite Possibilities” into your design.

• Only one submission per student. This is not a group project.

2019

Field Trips

At Rocklin Academy we believe that field trips are a valuable part of our educational program. Our field trips are aligned to the Core Knowledge curriculum and provide an opportunity for students to participate in hands on learning experiences. We are asking parents to contribute directly to their child's field trips now. You may pay online by clicking HERE or send a check, made out to Rocklin Academy, into the school office.

Planned Absences / Independent Study

Rocklin Academy prefers that families plan their travel during the scheduled school breaks during the school year or during the two months of scheduled summer vacation.

As the holidays approach, some families plan for their children to miss school due to travel. When an absence is planned, the teacher and the attendance line must be notified and an ISP requested at least 5 days in advance. ISP requests can be made via email to: TSattendance@rocklinacademy.org. Absences of 3 or more days require a parent meeting with the Principal for approval prior to the absence.

Independent Study Packets for unexcused absences (ie: Travel) are due the first day the student returns back to school. Accumulated unexcused absences without completed ISPs will be classified as truancies.
