This month is home to Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day — two days our pa-
triotism shows big and bright. At Family & MWR, we strive to provide fun activities,
special events, child care and more for those in uniform and their Families. While you
serve your country here and abroad, we’re on the homefront doing our best to provide
top-quality morale, welfare and recreation opportunities — after all, it’s in our name.
One of our biggest events of the year is the Armed Forces Day celebration. You’ll see
military displays, historical reenactments, carnival rides and fair booths Saturday, May 21,
10 a.m.–6 p.m. at Cowan and Memorial stadiums. This year, there’s also a Volksbike and a
Crossfit competition. Turn to page 8 or visit JBLMArmedForcesDay.com for details.
JBLM is holding a Memorial Day service at the Fort Lewis Cemetery Monday, May 30,
11:30 a.m. Join the community in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice
in service to our country.
This issue recognizes the contributions of military spouses (page 26) and includes
information on outdoor trips (page 16) and the #JBLMHalfMarathon (page 22).
