Dr.Chang’s story• Highly respected Doctor• Helping people in长沙 (Chang Sa) • Retired, going back to his village (White River)• Middle winter poor hungry, cold. Frostbite.• Dr.Chang felt sorry for them. Soon got home started cook medicine.

The Ancient Way of Making Dumplings

• Used lamb & some Chinese herbal medicine to make dumplings.• Particular herbs help people feel warm. [e.g. Moo err, wood ear]• Cook ingredients in boiling soup for few hours. Became delicious soup.• Took out lamb & herbs then chop up.• After, wrap up in Chinese pastry.

A Happy Ending• As soon as the village people ate the dumplings and drank the soup they

felt warmth rush through their bodies.• Dr.Chang started cooking dumplings on the first day new year didn’t

finish until 30th day.• That is why we eat dumplings during Chinese New Year.

Back to the PresentIt happened that the dumplings had the same shape as a Chinese gold

Sycee. Today, people eat dumplings for good wealth and auspicious.

pot of boiling soup. Soup smells heavenly. All of us making dumplings. Every time one make one that person closes their eyes and makes a wish. Boil the dumplings until cooked. Together surrounded by laughter and happiness have a majestic feast.
