Becoming Catholic

Becoming Catholic is one of life’s most profound and joyous experiences. Some are blessed enough to receive this great gift while they are infants, and, over time, they recognize the enormous grace that has been bestowed on them. Others enter the Catholic fold when they are older children or adults. This tract examines the joyful process and steps to becoming Catholic. If you would like to talk about where you are, or if you are curious about our Church and about our faith, or even if you’ve been attending Mass here virtually or in person and would like to find out about possibly joining, this is where to begin! All are welcome to come and see, to ask questions, and to look more deeply. Please contact Jan at [email protected] or call 973-377-4000, ext. 253 to get started!

WHAT IS NEXT?

What is next? This is a question being asked by many people in these days. It is a question that expresses the uncertainty, worry, tension, anxiety, lack of control and discomfort that so many are feeling. It also expresses our need for direction and guidance as we contemplate where do we go from here. In this message series we, as disciples and church, will tackle the question – what is next? – from the perspective of our faith.

21ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – AUGUST 22-23 FOUNDATION

What is the foundation upon which you build your convictions and your life purpose? What holds you up and supports you in times of joy, trouble, pain and uncertainty? Questions and more questions. We are always looking for answers but is the answer already implanted in our hearts. Can it be that God is the only foundation we need?

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: CHALLENGE :

TAKE SOME QUIET TIME THIS WEEK TO ANSWER JESUS’ QUESTION OF YOU. “WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?”

Stewardship

“Or who has given the Lord anything that he may be repaid?” - ROMANS 11:35

St. Paul reminds us of a central fact of Stewardship. We cannot give the Lord anything – God already owns it all. God made

everything. All we can do is return a portion of God’s many gifts back to Him. Sincere gratitude for our gifts opens our hearts

to joyful generosity! Through your generous sharing, you just may be the answer to someone’s prayer.

COMING THIS FALL!

The great sacraments of the Church—Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, the Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders—have endured for thousands of years and structured countless lives. Everything in the Church’s life comes from and returns to them. But there is far more to these ancient rites than meets the eye. In this new course, Bishop Barron looks at the great sacraments of the Church in all their theological depth, spiritual effects, and pastoral promise. The Sacraments will help you understand these signs and channels of grace and discover the secret behind their persistence down the ages: the presence and power of the Savior himself.

A Family Perspective

Like Jesus in today’s gospel, we are seen by others in different ways. Perhaps the name our family gives us is closest to our true identity. They know us best. Who do they say you are?
