What are “Apps”• “App” is shorthand for

“Application”

• Apps are fun or useful software applications that can be added to various social networks (or mobile devices and computers)

• Examples: Calendar, IM, RSS feed, Bank Account, task list, Polls, etc.

Defining & finding an RSS feed

• An RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feed is a link that sends information from one place to another

• Used to publish frequently updated works

• Examples: Blog entries, News headlines, Audio feeds, Video feeds, etc.

• Automatically syndicate content

To find a Blog’s RSS feed:

• Go to website and Right-click on the page• Choose “View Source”• Click “Ctrl+F” to bring up the Find menu• Type RSS (or Atom)• The RSS feed is found between the quotes

Facebook

• Click on “Applications” in the bottom left-hand corner of the Facebook homepage.

• Choose from current applications or search for apps

Twitter

• Most people do not use the Twitter homepage

• Twitter Apps: Tweetdeck and Tweet Miner

• Available to Admins on a case-by-case basis

• Add multiple social networks
