On Thursday, Tony nominated singer Mary Bridget Davies, returns home for a concert of her ownmusic. The concert has been sold out for a couple of weeks, but we'll try to reschedule her back soon inbetween her tours with "A Night with Janis Joplin". Come enjoy dinner in the bar or lounge and catch thevibe from the concert in the Music Room.

On Friday, Cleveland's dean of jazz, Ernie Krivda, brings another hard hitting group to Nighttown. Thegroup will feature Lafayette Carthon-piano, Jeff Halsey-acoustic bass, & Rennell Gonsalves-drums.

On Saturday, regional favorite singer/songwriter Rachel Brown & The Beatnik Playboys returns toNighttown. Rachel has a really cool groove while she melds country, bluegrass, rock and more.

Then on Monday, Supertramp guitarist Carl Verheyen brings histrio to rock Nighttown. Carl is featured on the front cover of GuitarPlayer Magazine on newstands right now. He's been ranked as “Oneof the World’s Top 10 Guitarists” by the magazine in a recent issue. He'll be joined by two all-stars: bassist Dave Marotta, who has alsoperformed with Phil Collins, Neil Diamond, Bruce Hornsby, GinoVanelli, Manhattan Transfer, Kenny Loggins. Drummer John Maderhas performed or recorded with Booker T. Jones, Steve Miller, PatBenatar, Patti Austin, Albert King, Randy Newman, and Bonnie Raitt. This is a "Don't Miss" show.

Nighttown Student Discount PolicyStudents up to age 26 are 1/2 off the regular price. Student priced tickets are only available the night of theshow, are available only at the door, and are subject toavailability. Students must have a photo ID from agenerally-recognized high school, college or university. Full-paying ticket holders get priority on admission andseating. Certain select shows have no discount based onarrangements with the artist. On evenings when thereare two shows (i.e. shows at 7 & 9PM), the discount isonly good for the second show. Students under the age of18 must be accompanied by an adult paying full price inorder to be eligible for the discount.

What’s more, fans will be able to submit their song requests viaFacebook for Mary Bridget to rework. Currently Davies can be seen starring in theNorth American touring production of “A Night with Janis Joplin” where she isreprising her role of rock icon Janis Joplin, which earned her a 2014 TonyNomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

Davies has toured Europe and the US with Joplin’s original band Big Brother andthe Holding Co. and is a blues darling; having graced the stage at BB King’s in NewYork City, the annual SXSW festival and has been a staple in the blues circuit inKansas City and throughout the US. In 2012 she released her debut CD “WannaFeel Something” and was nominated for Best Blues Album by Kansas City Pitch.

Her Nighttown performance will feature what she does best – sing. Accompaniedby her longtime musical collaborator, pianist/songwriter Ryan Sudick, this one-of-a-kind performance will be a departure from her usual full-band sound and is trulyand evening not to miss.

PianistLafayette Carthon is one of the most popular pianist on the NE Ohio scene. Now in his fifth decade as a jazz performer Ernie Krivda is acknowledged by bothhis peers and jazz critics as one of the world's great tenor saxophonists and one ofthe jazz scene's most unique artists. Commentaries on Krivda's work alwaysinclude the words original and unique in describing the sound and style that hasbeen shaped by a cross section of diverse influences. His early teen performancesin settings such as polka, and rock bands along with symphony orchestras meshedwith his core jazz experiences to create what is a very singular Ernie Krivda style.

Roy King has had the pleasure of performing with living legends like Mose Allison,Bucky Pizzerelli, Eddie Bo, Johnny Gimble and Jay McShann to great local heroessuch as Alex Bevan, the Gopher Broke Swing Band, pianists Mike Petrone and JoeHunter. Roy currently teaches drums and percussion at Woodsys Music in Kent andMedina, as well as leading his own jazz trio which plays at Nighttown in Cleveland,

Dave Huddleston is a lifelong student and lover of music. He is known locally as avocalist, guitarist, and bassist. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Cleveland,Dave grew up in a musical family and was exposed to a variety of music genres --from Saturday Metropolitan Opera radio broadcasts, to Broadway musicals playedon the family hi-fi, to pop tunes squeezed out of a tiny transistor radio tuned toWIXY 1260-AM. His influences are all over the map -- Bach, Artie Shaw, Elvis, theTemptations, the Beatles, Ella, 1960s TV themes, Gaetano Veloso, Chaka Khan, U2,the Bee Gees, the Isley Brothers, Frankie Valli, Ennio Morricone, Buck Owens. World Famous Guitarist from Supertramp leads All-Star Grouplive at Nighttown! Playing music in support of his new release"The Grand Design".

This comes after the band’s EuropeanFestival tours in 2015 and the recording of a new release called “The GrandDesign.”

The Carl Verheyen Band’s tour will be a rare chance for audiences to experience apowerful mix of blues, rock, jazz and even country from three world-classmusicians in comparatively intimate venues. The Grammy-nominated Verheyen isjoined by renowned bassist Dave Marotta, who has also performed with Phil Collins,Neil Diamond, Bruce Hornsby, Gino Vanelli, Manhattan Transfer, Kenny Loggins,and countless others. Marotta has also played bass on dozens of widely knownmovies and TV shows, ranging from American Idol to CSI. Ace drummer JohnMader has performed or recorded with Booker T. Jamison’s passion for music was realized while growing up in his grandfather’schurch, where he learned how to present music with honest intent. A native ofJacksonville, FL, Jamison began his study of Jazz as a high school student atDouglas Anderson School of the Arts. Jamison gained worldwide acclaim as afeatured musician in the Tribeca Film Festival winning documentary CHOPS; a filmthat followed the school’s jazz ensemble as they prepare and perform in therenowned Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Festival competition.

Virtuoso bassist, and Master Storyteller, Jay Leonhart leads Duowith Pianist Tomoko Ohno in exciting weekend on Nighttown'sStage!Jay Leonhart has been recognized as a very accomplished bass player for a longtime now. He has been named the Outstanding Bassist In the Recording Industrythree times and is always mentioned when the discussion turns to the outstanding .At age thirteen, while playing banjo with his brother in a dixieland band inBaltimore, Jay watched and listened to the bass player and knew that the bass wasthe instrument he would play forever.

Since that time Jay has been privileged to play with the likes of Judy Garland, DukeEllington, Thad Jones, Buddy Rich, Jim Hall, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, MarianMcPartland, Kenny Barron, Sting,m James Taylor, Papa Joe Jones, Roy Eldridge, JimHall, Louie Bellson, Dick Hyman, Luciano Pavoratti, and many more.

Over the years, Jay Leonhart has been writing and singing his own veryindividualistic songs about his life as a bass player. He now performs his musicworldwide to very receptive audiences.

Jay now appears primarily with his trio, which plays regularly at Birdland in NewYork, when not gainfully employed elsewhere.

Tomoko Ohno, born in Tokyo, began piano studies at the age of 4. As a teenager,she began playing professionally in the Tokyo area jazz scene. After graduatingfrom Rikkyo University in Law and Politics, Miss Ohno moved to the United Statesand entered the Jazz Studies Program at William Paterson University in New Jersey,where she studied with Harold Mabern and Rufus Reid. During this time she hadthe opportunity to perform with such artists as Jerome Richardson, WyntonMarsalis, Benny Golson and Joe Henderson. A recipient of the Student Award ofOutstanding Performance and a member of the Dean’s List, Miss Ohno graduatedwith a B.A. in Jazz Studies.

She has performed at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, The BlueNote, Sweet Basil and The Lenox Lounge in Harlem, in addition to appearing onlive radio broadcasts by WBGO and WNYC, and ABC TV's Good Morning America. She has performed and/or recorded with Slide Hampton, Claudio Roditi, James

In 1997 her first album, “Powder Blue” was released, and in1999 her second album, “Affirmation” was released, followed in 2000 by the album"Natural Woman." Her album "Shadows of Spring" (recorded in Argentina) wasreleased by MDR Records in 2005. Her latest album "Tomoko Ohno in BuenosAires" was also released by MDR Records in 2007. Her new album is scheduled tobe released in 2011 spring.

2016: A Political Race ODDyssey will appear five Mondays on the intimateNighttown stage (May 9, May 23, June 13, June 27 and July 11).

As the Republican National Convention puts Cleveland in the spotlight, this timely,fun revue will always be a little different each time (just like Cleveland's weather). You'll never know what to expect – and you'll want to see them all!

2016: A Political Race ODDyssey features: Audrey Audette, Sean Cahill, Rob Gibb,Carla Petroski, Tina Stump and Lora Workman. Also in the cast are Sheila Heymanand Marc Moritz, whose names you may recognize from the days of Giant PortionsImprov that was a huge success in Cleveland during the late 80s and early 90s.Tom Bonezzi is Music Director.

2016: A Political Race ODDyssey is a production of Cleveland Cabaret Project(CCP), whose goal is to promote awareness an advancement of cabaretperformance as an art form in and around the Greater Cleveland area.

Lora Workman is founder and artistic director of CCP, which she created with Charles Eversole,Artistic Director of Cleveland’s Own Singing Angels. Lora is a graduate of Baldwin WallaceUniversity’s Conservatory of Music. She studied cabaret in Italy, New York and was a semi-finalistin the 2003 San Francisco Cabaret competition. She was also selected to participate in the 2007Cabaret Conference Yale, which she worked with Tony Nominee® Tovah Feldshuh, Jason Graae,Julie Wilson and Alex Rybeck.

When he was twelve, his destiny as a jazz organistwas sealed when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student, Tony beganworking in Jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus, Ohio, guided by localorgan gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. For further inspiration, he studiouslyabsorbed the mastery of Jimmy McGriff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, CharlesEarland, Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. All would play a role in thedevelopment of his musical palette.

Moving easily between jazz and classical guitar, Guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque hasworked with prominent artists including Paquito D’rivera, Dave Holland, Sting, JoeHenderson, Joe Zawinul, Cassandra Wilson, Kurt Elling, Lester Bowie, ArturoSandoval, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Kahil el Zabar, Defunckt, Ramsey Lewis,Nigel Kennedy, Edgar Meyer, Robert Conant, Stephen Stubbs, Frank Bungarten,members of the Vermeer Quartet and many symphony orchestras in the U.S. andabroad. He has performed all of the major guitar concertos, is an activetranscriber of baroque as well as South American music and has had numerousmodern works dedicated to him.

Born in 1963 to Pakistani father and Chilean mother, extensive travels, especiallylong stays in Spain, France, Iran, Pakistan, and Chile, exposed Haque to differentmusics from a very early age. this natural eclecticism has become the hallmark ofFareed’s music.

In 2001 Fareed co-founded the jam super-group Garaj Mahal, joined GeorgeBrooks’ group Summit, featuring Zakir Hussein and Steve Smith and continues torecord and tour with the Fareed Haque Group.

Jessica Lee is an American jazz & blues vocalist, songwriter (ASCAP) and recordingartist, born in Manassas, VA. Lee’s vocals reflect the influence of classic jazz, blues,rhythm & blues and gospel, but always with a heavy emphasis on the blues. Hermusical motto is to study and perform “something old, something new, somethingborrowed . . . but always blue.”

Lee performs at jazz and blues clubs, music festivals, charitable and privateevents, universities and concert halls throughout the U.S. She has performed atlegendary clubs such as Antone’s in Austin, Texas and is featured frequently atmajor charitable events. For example, Jessica was the featured jazz & blues singerto perform a live, nationally-broadcasted concert benefiting the Make-a-Wish-Foundation from the WQED TV Studios in Pittsburgh and has also been a featuredsinger for the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure and other major charity events. In2011-12, record label EQ Music selected three of Jessica’s recorded songs from her“Bluebird Fly” album for inclusion in three compilation albums, including two intheir “Greatest Audiophile Voices” album series and one in “The Best Pop Jazz”album for international distribution. Since then, EQ Music has selected four more ofLee’s recorded songs to feature on four new international vocal compilation CDs,including “When Blues Meets Jazz,” and represents her solo albums internationally.

Like the late great JimmySmith, Baccus is a virtuoso on the Hammond B-3, equally adept at soul jazz andbebop. In many ways Eddie Baccus Sr. has been to the jazz scene what the lateRobert Jr. Lockwood was to the local blues scene; he has been a leader, mentor,and the soul of the community for many years.

Early on his talent was evident as he was linked with another jazz legend,saxophonist Roland Kirk. Baccus and Kirk were schoolmates at the Ohio School ofthe Blind and their sessions together in the old Euclid and 105th area are the stuffof local legends. Kirk would go on to national acclaim before his untimely death inthe late 70's. Baccus stayed close to home and it has been our good fortune.

Eddie Baccus Sr. has been the bedrock of the Cleveland jazz scene and hisinfluence on fans and musicians alike has been invaluable. After 15 years of recording and touring with famed urban jazz ensemble Pieces ofa Dream, saxophonist Eddie Baccus, Jr. stepped out on a lush, soulful and funkyJourney To Love, his independent debut demo to promote him for upcomingshows. Though it has been extraordinarily well received, Baccus is excited about aremixed and remastered version of the collection, which also features three newsongs. The Cleveland born and raised, Virginia based artist will be releasing therevamped version as part of a package with his soon to be released follow-upalbum whose title perfectly reflects Baccus’ life and career as he reflects on thelast 20 years and looks forward to the future: Living The Dream.

Baccus is currently putting the finishing touches on the new album, which willfeature jazz greats like keyboardist Russell Ferrante of the Yellowjackets, fellowsaxmen Eric Marienthal and Elan Trotman, blues guitarist Robben Ford and aspecial guest appearance by Baccus’ father, organist Eddie Baccus, Sr

Like his hero Grover, Baccus switches artfully between soprano, alto and tenor,and on Living the Dream is also playing baritone sax and EWI. Since leaving Piecesof a Dream, he has been recording and performing live with his band Straight tothe Point, a powerful group of musicians who live in the Beltway region (Marylandand Northern Virginia) .

Mike began his musical odyssey at the age of five in his native Mt. Vernon, NY.After experimenting with an assortment of instruments including acoustic andelectric bass, violin, piano, French horn and trumpet, he focused on the saxophonebecause it was the vehicle best suited to express his creative passion.

In the summer of 1993, Mike made his presence felt on the music scene with hisnow legendary debut performance at the well-known New York City jazz & R&Bspot, Wilson's. Invited there by a friend who was playing keyboards with the houseband, Mike literally walked on stage and, much to the surprise of the band leader,began to blow before anyone asked him to sit in. The looks of bewildermentquickly turned to smiles and the rest, as they say, is history.

Mike has been a regular there ever since, performing with such artists asBabyface, Rachelle Farrell, Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, and the artist formerlyknown as Prince. He has also showcased his extraordinary talent via performancesthroughout the US and abroad, touring with such notables as Teddy Riley &Blackstreet, Jonathan Butler, Simply Red, Wayman Tisdale, Kenny Lattimore andthe incomparable Stevie Wonder.

In 1996, Mike was invited to perform at President Clinton's Inaugural Gala held atThe Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Other milestone events include the 80thBirthday Celebration for President Nelson Mandela in South Africa, a Superbowlappearance with Stevie Wonder, and the Billboard Music Awards. Mike's televisioncredits include Saturday Night Live, The David Letterman Show, BET On Jazz, BETSound Stage, and The Tonight Show.

Dynamic French Vocalist, and Mack Avenue Recording Artist,with Her Six Piece Group back at Nighttown for two big shows! Vocalist Cyrille Aimée was primarily raised in France by a French father andDominican mother. As a curious child in Samois-sur-Seine, she would sneak out ofher bedroom window to wander into the nearby gypsy encampments filled withthose attending the annual Django Reinhardt Festival.

She quickly fell in love with gypsy music and way of life; years later she would singon street corners with friends while traveling across Europe. While in the midst ofone such odyssey, she found herself at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where she wonfirst prize in the vocal competition - which included the financing of her first self-produced album.

When Aimée audtioned for the Star Academy (a kind of French American Idol),she became a finalist. Informed she would have to sing only what she was told, hergypsy spirit rebelled—and in what was a cause célèbre she walked from thecompetition.

She now happily tours the world with her band as well as in a duo setting withBrazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo. Aimée's talents also recently caught theattention of Stephen Sondheim, who cast her in an Encores Special Presentation atNew York City's City Center in November 2013.

The New York Times referred to Aimée's major label debut in August 2014, as "abravura turn, presented with a smile."
