From Vicar’s Desk Greetings!

A young girl was depressed because she was not beautiful. She was discouraged, but as she grew older, her attitude changed. “I realized that not being beautiful was actually a blessing in disguise,” she said. “It forced me to develop inner resources and strength. I came to understand that women who can’t lean on their beauty must work harder to have the advantage.” She began to use her inner resources.

With her daring nature and hard work, Golda Meir went on to become the first woman Prime Minister of Israel. She not only accepted herself, but rejoiced in who she became. As Prime Minister, Golda Meir concentrated much of her energies on the diplomatic front artfully mixing personal diplomacy with skillful use of the mass media. Armed with an iron will, a warm personality and grandmotherly image, simple but highly-effective rhetoric, Golda successfully solicited financial and military aid in unprecedented measure. Throughout her 80- year life, Golda committed herself to the foundation, survival and prosperity of the State of Israel. From Vicar’s Desk

Many a times we also tend to think that we are not capable, don’t have talents, not worthy to stand before the powerful, then Meir’s life is a great boost to each one of us. Through her life, she triumphed all the traditional misconceptions. In Christian life, the greatest promise we have received is “I will not leave you as orphans.” As we are in the post Lenten period, once again we are reminded about God who is always with us all throughout our earthly journey.

It is true that He is with us but the presence He is offering is not for being comfortable but for taking new challenges in life. God’s words are not just for soothing but for encouraging to take new avenues. In Exodus, we see Moses was called by God but soon he expresses his discomfort in taking up the task. God assures Moses that He will be with him. This assurance does not mean safeguarding him alone but it resonates safeguarding and guiding an entire community. God was equipping Moses for a greater task. When God equips a person who is slow of speech and slow of tongue it just means that greater responsibilities are entrusted on his shoulders. Our God guides us to take up greater challenges. Remember, at any point of time, if we are delivered by the Almighty Lord, it means that a greater responsibility is on our way. When we pray for God’s guidance we also need to ask for constant support and strength in taking up the tasks He gives us.

According to the church calendar, this month we commemorate St. John’s day, DSMC Sunday, Feast of Ascension. I pray and urge all the parishioners to prayerfully partake in all the church activities. I urge all to surrender, submit in His mighty hands and prepare for a new start.

With Prayers

In Christ
