Jon Reynolds Youth and Associate Minister Our vision as it relates to building a Christian community begins in
the home. The family was designed by God to be an environment of safety and security for children to grow emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. All parents understand that their roles to foster this kind of healthy home is essential to developing life-long followers of Jesus. We all want homes characterized by the qualities we see in Jesus. Welcoming homes that are “clean,” filled with children who respect their parents, are often times also extremely blessed physically, morally, and spiritually. In similar ways, the church provides a warm, accepting environment where Christ is loved and exalted. So, Christians learn and grow closer to one another and God. Rural Hill has been a light to a dark world, not because of what we can do, but because of what God is doing through us.
Ultimately, the burden of growing in the Lord falls on each individual. Children choose to follow their parents or they go their own way. As parents we want our kids to respect us because we know it will make them better people. Two questions:
1. Do we respect our Heavenly Father?
2. Have we taught our kids to respect Him?
Hispanic Christian Workshop on October 8 We praise God for a great day! There were 270 in attend-ance representing 6 Tennessee congregations and 2 Alabama congregations. God’s word was preached, classes for children were well organized, fellowship was enjoyed and delicious food was served. Many thanks to all those who helped in so many ways!
Wilfredo Salvatierra Hispanic Minister
Room-in-the-Inn This important ministry resumes for our 4th winter season on November 7. We will be hosting 12-14 homeless men on the 1st and 3rd Monday nights of the months of Nov. Dec. Jan. Feb. & March. We drive the bus down to the Rescue Mission, pick the men up that have registered, bring them here for a hot supper, a warm bed and goodnight sleep, breakfast in the morning, and return them to downtown with a sack lunch in hand. This program requires lots of helpers in various ways. Life Groups will be coordinating specific dates. Sign-ups are also now underway for individuals who wish to help with this important ministry.
Harvest Sunday at Rural Hill On Sunday, October 30, we will have “Harvest Sunday” like we did last year, when we will re-stock our pantry with needed items. That morning, we invite you to bring some of the items on the list and place them on the stage area of our auditorium. Whether you can only bring one can or a whole bag full, you will be blessed by this exercise of tremendous outpouring of giving that will benefit those who are less fortunate.
