NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY

February 25, 2021 Early, on February 24th the Ontario Provincial Police notified the First Nations Police Portfolio that there was an overdose within the community. Toxicologist confirmed that the individual survived but had overdosed on cocaine laced with traces of fentanyl. Its extremely important at this time to inform you that there is an extremely lethal batch of drugs being circulated within the community and at this time we ask everyone to make themselves and their loved ones aware. The First Nation is working closely with law enforcement at this time to address this matter and taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and protection of citizens at this time. If you or a loved one require support services, please feel free to contact our private and confidential Cultural Outreach Harm Reduction services at 1-833-289-0544, or our Crisis Team at 1-886-289-0201. 5 | NOTICES TO THE COMMUNITY

ST ANDREW’S CHURCH COMMUNITY NEWS We would like to thank the community for their concern following the

November fire and the first responders. We were grateful to the Fire Department and the Health Centre as we gathered in healing circles with our Bishop and Indigenous Archbishop Mark. We would like to thank Leslie Whiteye for the work she has done to gather precious memories.

The Insurance process in this Pandemic is taking longer than anticipated and is slowly moving forward. It will be important to have conversations with the community so all voices can be heard, forming a plan for how the Indigenous Anglican Church will continue to move forward in self-determination. A new building where people can gather needs to serve community and be accessible by all. Present Elders in the congregation will, in the path ahead, be passing leadership to the next generation.

I will continue at present to serve the community as Priest and with Pastoral care in whatever ways I can. I have invited Archdeacon Rosalyn Elm, to be part of our worship and discussions so that you can get to know her. You can look to her also as your plans unfold.

With the Pandemic and now its variants, the future is in Creator’s hands. I will be stepping back from ministry on the territories by the Summer to move from full-time to part-time pastoral ministry. I have learned and continue to learn so much from you and that gift will for ever be carried in my heart.

Chi Miigwetch, Gaye+
