around the corner As Oregonians we know the seasons seem to change with a jump rather than agradual shift For all of us at Ausland this means the cold wet slog of winter work is soon going tocome to an end and hot sunny days are soon ahead (and I for one am ready) We are hitting this spring running Through the winter we had nearly twenty projects in constructionand in the next six months we look to start ten new projects Spring throws us all into another gearThe soil is ready for it the days get longer and more importantly our clients and partners are allready to take on new challenges We are embarking together on a vision to be a company delivering world-class development servicesin our communities delivering exceptional results to our clients To achieve this we need a teamwho is ring on all cylinders This means we are focused on investing in you - our people Toaccomplish this there are several new tools for you on the immediate horizon

BambooHR your personal Ausland Employee Portal Launching April 1st you will be ableto download an app on your phone (or PC) to request vacation time sign paperwork manageyour goals and work with your supervisor to develop your own Career Development PlanThis will be a great place to communicate with your colleagues watch training videos andread great news about AuslandCareer Development Plans You rarely get any place great by accident Every epic journeyhas a map or a ight plan (or at least a wizard for guidance) HR Specialist Lynsey Turek isworking to develop Career Maps such as from Laborer to Carpenter to Foreman or CAD Techto Engineer Wherever you are going go there on purpose and we want to help you You cantalk with your manager about your career goals and how you can use Ausland to build yourcareer Project Quality Control Quality is a journey not a destination We are making theimplementation of systems and innovations that support high-performing teams a prioritythis year With this you will see increased involvement from Aaron Ausland in ConstructionOperations Bill McMillanrsquos role is focused in the launching of our new projects this Spring New teams and systems are being added to allow us to consistently deliver excellence on allof our projects Todd Powell PE put it extremely well at our Ausland Celebration on February2nd when he said ldquoWe want for our construction team to only want to build from Auslandrsquosdesign team planshellip And we want our design team to know that every Ausland constructionteam is the best to build their projectrdquo Consistent execution of quality and extraordinaryresults will lead us to a successful future for generations to come

SAFETY - EXTENSION CORD SAFETY

On construction sites exible extension cords that power tools and equipment are everywhere These cords

are often loose and uncovered They can cause tripping hazards They can be damaged easily and create

electrical hazards

Inspect all extension cords daily for damage and missing grounding prongs

1 Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter to protect

against any electrical fault

2 Keep extension cords away from foot trac to

prevent tripping and cord damage The insulation in

cords and electrical tools can become damaged If a

live wire touches exposed metal parts inside a tool it

can become energized

3 DO NOT use extension cordsexible wiring

where frequent inspection would be dicult

where damage would be likely

for long-term electrical supply as a substitute

for the xed wiring of a structure

4 In addition NEVER USE

a metal outlet box Romex or nonmetallic

cable as an extension cord

staples or nails to hold cords in place

multiple cords connected together (use one long cord instead)
