Fifth in a 7-part series titled: Loving Like Jesus

Pastor Matt Friend – March 4, 2018

Celebrating 75 Yearsof God's Faithfulness!

Honoring our past. Embracing our future.

75

Today, Bible Center Church is celebrating 75 years in Charleston. The church grew out of Bible studies held at the People's Department Store in downtown Charleston and officially held its first service on March 7, 1943 in the building now known as One Bridge Place, near the Southside Bridge, now occupied by City National Bank.

The original name of the church was the City Bible Center, indicating its connection to Charleston. That connection continues today as we strive to become a church Charleston can't live without – saturating the city with the love of Christ.

Be sure to visit the displays in the Gathering Space and hallway. We thank God for the rich history He has given us, and we pray for provision and grace for the next 75 years!

This Week’s Book Recommendation

Jesus describes two kinds of prodigal children…

Prodigal = an excessive, reckless, extravagant spender

1. Excessive Law-Breakers (vv. 11-24)

• "I'll be happy if I can break all the rules."

• Their bad works keep them from God.

• They want God's blessings more than they want God.

2. Excessive Law-Keepers (vv. 25-32)

• "I'll be happy if I can keep all the rules."

• Their good works keep them from God.

• They want God's blessings more than they want God.

What's today's main thought?

The happiest day of your life is when you're

satisfied with God's love. (See also John 3:16; 6:37; Romans 8:35-39; Ephesians 3:19; Song of Songs 2:10-14)
