INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION OF THE HANDSET

see Illustration I

• Remove the battery compartment door.• Insert 2 AAA Ni-MH batteries in the battery compartment.• Close the battery compartment door by pushing it back on the handset.

! When replacing the batteries, ALWAYS use good quality Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. Never use otherbatteries or conventional alkaline batteries! The use of wrong batteries can cause irrevocable damage toyour appliance!

Important!Before you start using your cordless phone definitely, it first has to be charged during 16 hours. Youshould do this without connecting it to the telephone line.

• To charge the handset you can place it on the base unit.• The battery-indicator on the display indicates the status of the battery capacity.• The battery capacity is 5 days in Standby-mode and 13 hours conversation.

INSTALLATION OF THE BASE UNIT

• Click the plug of the adaptor in the connection plug on the backside of the base unit (1) and plug the adaptor into the wall socket.• Click one end of the telephone cord in the connection point on the backside of the base unit (2) and the other end in the

telephone plug.• This telephone plug can now be plugged into the wall socket of your telephone connection point.

Important!If you install the NOBLESSE VOIP correctly, a connection between the handset and the base unit willbe made automatically.On the LCD-display appears the number of the base unit (BU-1) and of the handset (HS-1).

BASE UNIT

1. Charge-Led This led lights during charging and flashes during calling.

Important!If the handset is being placed on the base unit, this led ALWAYS should light. If it does not light, this meansthat the handset was not placed correctly on the base unit or that the AC adaptor was not installed properly,so that the handset can not be charged.

2. Handset-search-button To locate the registered handset. Is also used to register a new handset (with use of multiplehandsets).

3. Charge-contact points Keep them clean and dust-proof to make charging possible.

INFORMATION ON THE LCD-DISPLAY

Indicates that you are active in the Phonebook.Indicates that you are active in the Programming menu.Indicates the capacity of the battery.Flashes when the capacity of the battery is starting to get low.Indicates when the ringertone volume for external calls via the normal fixed line ánd for PC calls is switched off.Indicates a conversation via the normal fixed telephone line.Flashes when you receive a call.

x Indicates that the microphone has been temporarily switched off during a call.

Indicates that some numbers are stored in the Caller ID memory.

Flashes when a new call that you have not seen yet, has been stored.This function only works if you have subscribed it with your telephone company.

Indicates that the handset is within effective range of the base unit.Flashes when the handset is too far out of range of the base unit.

PC Indicates a VOIP/PC conversation.Flashes when you receive a PC call.If somebody leaves a message in your mailbox, this icon will appear.This function only works if you have subscribed it with your telephone company.

SETTINGS FOR USE OVER THE FIXED TELEPHONE LINE

Important!This chapter only describes the settings for the NOBLESSE VOIP phone with use over the normal fixedtelephone line (analogue/PSTN line).

GENERAL GUIDELINES

• The phone always needs to be in Standby-mode before you can start programming.• To exit the Menu, you can use the key.

LANGUAGE

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING “ appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key againuntil “LANGUAGE “ appears on the display. � Press the key. � Use the key until the required language appears on thedisplay. � Finally press the key once again to confirm the language. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

DATE & TIME

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING ” appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key againuntil “DATE/TIME ” appears on the display. � Press the key. “YEAR ” appears on the display. � Enter the right number of the year(f.e. 06 for 2006). � Press the key to confirm. “MONTH ” appears on the display. � Enter the right month. � Press the

RINGER MELODY

display. � Press the key. “MELODIES ” appears on the display. � Press the key once again and use the and key

to search the required melody. � Press the key to confirm your favourite melody for all external calls. [You will hear aconfirmation beep.]

RINGER VOLUME

You can choose from 10 different ringer volume levels.Press the key. � Press the key until “RING SEL ” appears on the display. � Press the key. “EXTERNAL” appears on thedisplay. � Press the key and then the key. “VOLUME” appears on the display. � Press the key and then use the

& key to search the required ringer volume. � Finally press the key to confirm the right external ringer volume. [You willhear a confirmation beep.]

Important!If you choose for volume-level ‘0’, the ringer tone will be switched off completely.

DIALING WITH OR WITHOUT SOUND SIGNAL

Press the key. � Press the key until “KEY SETUP” appears on the display. � Press the key, the key and finallythe key again. � Use the key to make your choice: “CLICK ON” or “CLICK OFF”. � Finally press the key to confirm yourchoice. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE KEYPAD

Press the key. � Press the key until “KEY SETUP” appears on the display. � Press the key and then use the key

Remark:You can unlock the keypad by keeping the key pressed during 2 seconds.

HANDSET NAME

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key and then the until“HS NAME“ appears on the display. � Press the key. � Enter the required name. � Press the key to confirm the handsetname. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

PROGRAMMING A PIN-CODE

A number of functions, like f.i. “Blocking numbers” of the NOBLESSE VOIP only can be programmed with a PIN-Code.PIN-Code with delivery = ‘0000’.

How to change this PIN-Code?Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key and then the key until“PIN-CODE” appears on the display. � Press the key once again. � Enter your old PIN-Code (with delivery = ‘0000’) followed

by . � Enter now your new PIN-Code (max. 8 numbers) followed by the key. � Enter your new PIN-Code once againfollowed by . [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

BLOCKING NUMBERS

You can block several numbers with the NOBLESSE VOIP. The number you blocked has a max. of 5 numbers.Examples of possible blocked numbers are:• ‘00’: international numbers can not be dialed if ‘00’ is programmed as a blocked number.• ‘06’ or ‘0475’: mobile numbers that begin with f.i. ‘06’ of ‘0475’ can not be dialed if they are programmed as blocked numbers.• ‘0900’: can also be programmed as a blocked number.

HOW TO BLOCK A NUMBER?

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key and then the key until“BARRING” appears on the display. � Press the key and enter your PIN-Code (with delivery = ‘0000’). � Press the keyagain and enter the number that you would like to block. � Press the key and enter 1. � Press the key to confirm theblocking. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

To program multiple blocked numbers (max. 5), you proceed the same way as written above. Only after entering your PIN-Code you press the key to block the next number. On the display appears “BAR NUM 2”. Then you proceed with the differentsteps as written above.

HOW TO DELETE A BLOCKED NUMBER?

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key and then the key until

“BARRING” appears on the display. � Press the key and enter your PIN-Code (with delivery = ‘0000’). � Press the keyonce. � Now simply use the key to delete the programmed blocked numbers. � Press the key to confirm. [You will heara confirmation beep.]

TONE/PULSE ( * )

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key onceagain until “DIAL MODE” appears on the display. � Press the key. “TONE” appears on the display. � Use the key to makeyour choice: “TONE” or “PULSE”. � Finally press to confirm your choice. You will hear a confirmation beep.

(*) This setting is NOT used in the majority of the European countries where only “TONE” dialling is available.

FLASH-KEY

The FLASH-key offers the possibility to use various services of your telephone company or can be used as through-connectkey when the NOBLESSE VOIP is connected to a PBX.

Remark:The flash-time is different for each country. Check the correct setting with your local telephonecompany before programming the flash-time.

Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key until“RECALL” appears on the display. � Press the key. � Use the key to make your choice: you can choose 100ms (SHORT)

or 300ms (LONG). � Press the key to confirm. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

‘RESET’ OF THE APPLIANCE

This action makes it possible to undo all the changes and to go back to the default settings (ringer volume, ringer melody, language,keytones, blocked numbers,…).Press the key. � Press the key until “SETTING” appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key onceagain until “RESET” appears on the display. � Press the key and enter your PIN-Code (= ‘0000’ with delivery). � Press the

key once again to confirm the “RESET“. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

Important!• This way you can not recover the forgotten PIN-Code.• The memory of the Phonebook is not being erased.• The handset will not be deregistered.

COMPLETE RE-INSTALLATION

With the NOBLESSE VOIP it is possible to re-install your telephone completely, without having to use the PIN-Code.

Important!• The original PIN-Code will be recovered (=’0000’ with delivery).• All default settings will be recovered.• The memory of the Phonebook will be erased.• The handset will be de-registered and therefore needs to be registered once again.

Remove the batteries from the handset. � Keep the key pressed and put the batteries back in the handset until the handset

rings continuously and the display lights. � Release the key and press the key. � You will hear a beep tone. �

Press the key shortly. � “RESET” appears on the display. � Press the key to confirm or remove the batteries to

cancel. � “RESET OK” appears on the display. [You will hear a confirmation beep.] � “NOT SUB” appears on the display. Now youcan register the handset once again.

USE OF THE PHONE OVER THE FIXED TELEPHONE LINE

Important!This chapter only describes the use of the NOBLESSE VOIP phone over the normal fixed telephone line(analogue/PSTN line).

SWITCHING ON/OFF

While installing the NOBLESSE VOIP and placing the battery, the telephone is automatically being switched on!If you wish to switch a handset completely off, you can do this as following:Press the key and use the key until “POWER OFF?“ appears on the display. � Press to confirm. [The handset willnot ring and the last dialed numbers will be erased from the memory.] � To switch the handset back on after switching it off,press any key. � Your telephone is back in Standby-mode.

CALLING

Two possibilities:1. Press and enter the required telephone number.2. Enter the required telephone number and press .

If you enter a wrong number, press the key once to delete 1 number and for a few seconds to delete the whole number.

RECEIVING AND ENDING A CALL

When you receive a call, you will hear a sound signal on the handset:Press to answer the call. � Press the key again to end the call.

ADJUSTING THE VOICE VOLUME

During a call you can adjust the voice volume.Press . The current voice volume appears on the display. � Choose a level from 1 to 5 by using the keypad. � Press toconfirm.

‘MUTE’-KEY

During a call, press the key to switch the microphone off. � x appears on the display. [The person on the other end of the line cannot hear you, but you can hear the person on the other end of the line.] � Press the key to switch the microphone back on.

‘SPEAKERPHONE’-KEY

With this key you can switch on the Speakerphone of the handset to make a completely handsfree call.

Press . � On the display appears )). � Press again to switch off the microphone and to continue your conversation

without Speakerphone via the handset. � Press to finally end the call.

Remark:During a call you can adjust the volume of the speakerphone as indicated above in the chapter“Adjusting the voice volume”.

REVIEWING AND DIALING THE LAST DIALED NUMBERS

With the NOBLESSE VOIP you can review the 5 last numbers that were dialed with this phone.Press the key. “REDIAL“ appears on the display. � Press the key: the last dialed number appears on the display. � Press

again to review the previous number. � Finally press to dial the number that is now showing on the display.

CALL DURATION

The telephone automatically shows the duration of the calls.This remains on the display during a few seconds after the call, before it turns back to Standby-mode.

Remark:The call duration automatically starts counting after pressing the key, even when there is no connection.

HANDSET-SEARCH-BUTTON

Press the key of the base unit very shortly to page the handset that has gone missing. � The handset beeps for a moment.� Press any key of the handset to stop the beeping.

USING PREFIX DIALING

The NOBLESSE VOIP allows you to set a Prefix Number, which will always be dialed out automatically before you enter the telephonenumber you want to dial. This number will also be dialed when you call numbers from the phonebook memory, redial memory etc.Example:Prefix number - 1609Telephone number - 0123456789Prefix dialing sequence - 16090123456789

SETTING A PREFIX NUMBER

Press the key. � Press the key until “PREFIX“ appears on the display. � Press the key. � Enter the required prefix

number. This prefix number will always be dialed out automatically. � Press the key to confirm. [You will hear a confirmationbeep.] � Press the key to return to Standby mode.

DELETING A PREFIX NUMBER

Press the key. � Press the key until “PREFIX “ appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key to delete theprefix number. � Press the key to confirm. [You will hear a confirmation beep.] � Press the key to return to Standby mode.

DIALING WITHOUT PREFIX NUMBER

The prefix number will always be dialed out automatically (also when you call numbers from the phonebook memory, redial memory etc.).When you want to dial a number without prefix number, but you don’t want to delete the prefix number you have set in the phone,you can do this as following:Enter the required telephone number or select the number you want to dial in, for example, the Redial memory. � Press andhold the key for 3 seconds. � The requested number will now be dialed without prefix number.

REGISTERING HANDSET TO THE BASE UNIT

Handset 1: in Standby-mode you read from the display: “BU-1 HS-1“.If f.i. by pressing a wrong key appears that the handset is not registered to the base unit anymore, you can still do the following:

How to proceed?Press during 10 sec. of the base unit. � The red LED on the base unit starts to flash. � Press of the handset you would like

to register. � Press until “BASE SUB“ appears on the display. � Press followed by the base unit number. � The icon

flashes and on the display appears “SEARCHING“ followed by a code. � Press again and enter the PIN-Code (with delivery =‘0000’). � Press . � If registering has succeeded, you will hear a confirmation beep.

Important!The base unit stays during 3 min. in registering-mode.If registering the handset has not gone well, you could better start all over again.

DEREGISTERING THE HANDSET FROM THE BASE UNIT

As described above you can, if necessary, registering the handset again to the base unit. With use of multiple handsets you canalso deregister them.

How to proceed?Press the key of the handset you do not wish to deregister. � Press the key until “SETTING“ appears on the display. �

Press the key and then the key until “REMOVE HS“ appears on the display. � Press the key and enter the PIN-Code(= ‘0000’ with delivery). � Press the key and enter the handset number that you would like to delete. � Press the key.� If deregistering was successful, you will hear a confirmation beep. If this is not the case, you will hear 3 short beeps that indicatethat you have entered a wrong digit.

SELECTING A BASE UNIT

If your handset is registered to multiple base units, you can choose with which base your handset needs to communicate. Youhave 2 possibilities:

1. “MANUAL“: Choose the required base unit manually. You can make a choice between all base units to which the handset is registered.2. “AUTO“: Choose the required base unit automatically. The handset will automatically search for the base unit with the best connection.

If the base unit is found, you will hear a confirmation beep.

You can store 200 names and numbers in the Phonebook of the NOBLESSE VOIP.

STORING A NUMBER AND NAME IN THE PHONEBOOK-MEMORY

Press the key. � Press the key until “PHONE BOOK“ appears on the display. � Press the key. “SEARCHING“ appears onthe display. � Press the key until “ADD NEW“ appears on the display. � Press the key. “NAME“ appears on the display. �

Enter the name you would like to store. Use the keypad to program the name. � Press the key to confirm the name. �Enter the telephone number that you would like to store accordingly. � Press the key to confirm the telephone number. [Youwill hear a confirmation beep.]

OR

The phone is in Standby-mode. � Enter the number that you would like to store. � Press and hold the key during 2

seconds. “NAME“ appears on the display. � Enter the name that you would like to store. � Press and hold the key during2 seconds to confirm. [You will hear a confirmation beep.]

first name that begins with these letters appears on the display. � Use the and key to scroll through the completephonebook memory.

OR

Press and hold the key during 2 seconds. � Use the and key to scroll through the complete phonebookmemory.

CALLER ID (CLIP)

Important!This chapter only describes the Caller ID function of the NOBLESSE VOIP phone over the normal fixedtelephone line (analogue/PSTN line).

Before you can use this service, you first have to take a Caller ID-subscription with your telephone company.• With Caller ID you can see, before you pick up the phone, the number of the person that is calling you on the display of the

NOBLESSE VOIP.• If this number already has been stored in your Phonebook, the name also appears on the display. If this is not the case,

“NO NAME” appears on the display.• If the caller has blocked the CLIP-function, “WITHHELD“ appears on the display.• With Caller ID you can also see all the numbers that called you during your absence.• You can call these numbers directly and/or store them in the Phonebook.• The NOBLESSE VOIP has a Caller ID memory of 30 numbers.

If you program a number under “Direct Call” and turn it ON, this number will be automatically dialed out if you press any key.Example: If your child is home alone and you wish to be reachable in a very easy way, you can program under “Direct Call” yourmobile phone number for instance. This number will then be dialed out immediately by pressing any key of the NOBLESSE VOIP.

PROGRAMMING THE DIRECT CALL NUMBER

USE OF THE TELEPHONE VIA THE PC

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

To use your NOBLESSE VOIP telephone as optimal as possible, you need to have the following minimum systemrequirements:• PC with Windows 2000 or Windows XP;• 64 MB free memory;• 128 MB free space on the hard disk;• Internet connection of 64 Kbps or higher.

INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE

Important!• Please note that the PC driver software is compatible with your Windows 2000/XP computer. In case

you have installed any other VOIP driver software, please remove it before installation of the PremierNoblesse VOIP driver software.

• Wait to plug the USB cable in the PC connection. Do this only after installing the software and restartingyour PC.

• Start your PC and activate your Internet connection.

RINGER MELODY

ADJUSTING THE VOICE VOLUME

During a PC call you can adjust the voice volume.Press . The current voice volume appears on the display. � Choose a level from 1 to 5 by using the keypad. � Press toconfirm.

‘MUTE’-KEY

During a PC call, press the key to switch the microphone off. � x appears on the display. [The person on the other end of theline can not hear you, but you can hear the person on the other end of the line.] � Press the key to switch the microphone back on.

PC-TIME

MAKING A SKYPEOUT CALLSkypeOut makes it possible to make cheap calls via the PC to fix and mobile numbers over the whole world.

Important!• Before being able to use this service, you first have to buy some SkypeOut credits.• When you want to dial a number using SkypeOut, you always have to enter “+” or “00”, followed by

the international country code, before the number that you want to call (f.e. 0032 for Belgium). Thisalso applies for national calls.

Enter the required telephone number. � Press the key. � Press the key once again to end the conversation.

Important!When you receive a call via the normal fixed line and a Skype™ call at the same time, the first call willappear on the display. You can answer one of these calls by pressing the corresponding key: for theSkype™ call, for the normal PSTN call.

Incoming Skype™ call during PSTN conversationWhen a Skype™ call comes in during a normal conversation over the normal fixed line, the Skype™ nickname of the secondcaller appears on the display and you will hear a beep. The PC icon flashes on the display.

Press the key to end the first call. � The handset starts to ring. � Press the key to answer the Skype™ call.

OR

Press the key. � Press the key until “SWITCH” appears on the display. � Press the key. The PSTN call will be puton hold and you will be connected with the Skype™ call. � To switch back to the PSTN call, you repeat the different steps

LISTENING TO RECEIVED VOICEMAIL MESSAGESWhen you have received a voicemail message, the icon appears on the display. � Press the key. � Press the key. “VOICEMAIL” appears on the display. � Press the key. “INBOX” appears on the display. � Press the key. � TheSkype™ nickname of the last contact person who left a message will appear on the display. directly. “INBOX” appears on the display. Then you proceed with the same steps as described above.• The upload of the voicemail messages from the PC to the NOBLESSE VOIP takes a short period. Please

wait until the upload is complete to access the “INBOX” menu. If the upload has not been completedyet, “––“ will appear on the display and the handset will return to the “INBOX” menu.

• If you have not pressed the key to stop playing the message, the NOBLESSE VOIP will automaticallyreturn to the “INBOX” menu when the voicemail message has been played completely.

• When you have listened to a voicemail message, the icon will disappear after the Skype™ nicknameof the person who left the message. The Skype™ nickname will remain in the list of received voicemailmessages. Go to the “INBOX” menu as described above and use the key to scroll through this list.

• If you use the � icon on your PC to play the voicemail message, the Skype™ nickname of the personwho left the message appears on the display of your Noblesse VOIP. � Press the key to listen to thevoicemail through your handset. � Press the key once again to stop playing the message.

DELETING RECEIVED VOICEMAIL MESSAGES

If you don’t want to listen to a voicemail message, you can only delete this message using your PC.Open Skype™. � Go to “CALL LIST” and click on the voicemail icon. � Select the voicemail message that you wantto remove. � Click on the dustbin icon to delete the message. � The icon disappears from the display of yourNOBLESSE VOIP.

• While viewing the friendslist, you can enter the first letter of the name to search quickly.• When you select a contact person on your PC and choose “Send Voicemail”, the Skype™ nickname of

this person appears on the display of your NOBLESSE VOIP. � Press the key to record your voicemailmessage. You will hear the greeting message of your contact person, followed by a “beep”, afterwhich you can enter your message. � Press the key once again to end the recording and send themessage.

• If you have not subscribed to Skype™ Voicemail, you can also send voicemail messages, but only tocontact persons who have subscribed to the Skype™ Voicemail service. In this case, only the names ofthese contact persons will appear in the “OUTBOX” menu.

If the first call is a VoipBuster call:- The PC icon will flash.- The callers number and name (if stored in the phonebook) of the call via the normal fixed line will appear on the display.- You will hear the ringer melody for VoipBuster calls.- You have to press the key to answer the call.

Incoming VoipBuster call during PSTN conversationWhen a VoipBuster call comes in during a normal conversation over the normal fixed line, the VoipBuster nickname of thesecond caller appears on the display and you will hear a beep. The PC icon flashes on the display.

Press the key to end the first call. � The handset starts to ring. � Press the key to answer the VoipBuster call.

ORPress the key. � Press the key until “SWITCH ” appears on the display. � Press the key. The PSTN call will beput on hold and you will be connected with the VoipBuster call. � To switch back to the PSTN call, you repeat the different
