CD-based images are used to install the basic operating system on RIS clients

To ensure that RIS functions properly, some steps may be needed

Users are granted the right to join the domain and access network resources in the RIS environment

This presents a security hazard, which you can prevent by pre-staging the RIS client

Since computer accounts are created in the domain during pre-staging, there is no need to grant users the right to join computers to the domain

If you do not pre-stage RIS clients, all RIS computer accounts are created in the same container during the RIS-based installation

To access network resources, these computers must be joined to the domain

Users must be granted the right to join these computers to the domain

RIS is an advanced service in Windows Server 2003 that enables you to easily perform remote installations

Like any other service, it may not work smoothly all of the time

For example, if the hardware requirements for the RIS clients are not met, RIS-based installations will not be able to start
