In celebration of our 25th anniversary, TransIndus presents a collection of our favourite journeys as Escorted Group Tours. We invite you to join us on these exciting and unmissable experiences in some of the most sought after holiday destinations in Asia. These carefully designed itineraries are designed for first time visitors and showcase the highlights of each country. They venture just that little bit beyond, off the beaten track, to add an extra element of adventure and excitement to your experience.

As you leaf through the following pages, let us tempt you through the picturesque rice fields of Vietnam, the extravagant palaces of Rajasthan, the cultural towns of South India, the mystical mountainscapes of Bhutan, the teeming jungles of Borneo or maybe go hot air ballooning over Bagan’s temples or take a charming train ride through Sri Lanka’s tea country.

We are located in Ealing, in a converted Victorian Fire Station, and invite you to join us here for a cup of tea or a glass of wine to discuss your next Asian adventure.

GROUP SIZEOur group tours typically have between twelve and sixteen travelers, and are limited to a maximum size of twenty people, in order to ensure that everyone is well looked after by our tour managers.

SCHEDULED FLIGHTSWe use reputed, scheduled airlines for international travel to guarantee the start and end of your holiday is as enjoyable as the destination itself. These airlines are chosen as much for their comfort as for their punctuality, performance, reliability and quality of service.

AIRPORT ASSISTANCE On arrival at your destination and at every port thereafter you will be assisted by a TransIndus representative to help with check-in and boarding formalities.

UK REGIONAL AIRPORTSMost TransIndus tours are scheduled to depart from London Heathrow. We are very happy to offer flight connections from most UK regional airports. Please ask us for details. In some instances, your bags may even be checked through to your destination, making the Heathrow connection much smoother.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCEMost airlines allow one piece of check-in baggage, weighing no more than 20Kg and one item of hand luggage, weighing up to 6Kg, when travelling in economy class. However, as every airline is different, it is worth checking the baggage allowance of individual airlines, with us or online, prior to travel. Travelers in Premier-Economy, Business and First Class cabins often benefit from a more generous allowance.

PREMIER, BUSINESS AND FIRST CLASS UPGRADESWe have negotiated some excellent prices for upgrades to Premier-Economy, Business and First Class on most airlines. So, if you are looking for extra legroom in a Premier-Economy cabin, flat beds in Business Class or the luxury of First Class to enhance the experience of your tour we can do so for a reasonable price.

LOUNGE ACCESSTo get your holiday off to a good start we suggest making a reservation for an airport lounge to give you access to comfortable seating, complimentary beverages and snacks, wi-fi, newspapers, magazines, washroom facilities and sometime even shower facilities while you wait for your flight to be announced. Available in the UK and at select airports in Asia, these lounges are available for a small supplementary charge.

DOMESTIC TRAVEL AT YOUR DESTINATION Our comprehensive tours are designed to give you a good overview of the destination you choose and, therefore, may involve significant domestic travel. You may have some early starts to ensure you get the maximum out of the day’s activities. We have tried our best to mitigate these with some mornings or afternoons at leisure to give you time to relax, enjoy your hotel’s facilities and explore sites on your own.

Road Travel will usually be by carefully selected, fully licensed, air-conditioned coaches with seat belts.

Should your holiday include a train journey, your journey will be booked in the highest class available on the train and will usually be in an air- conditioned carriage.

Domestic flights are usually provided on low cost carriers and include one complimentary checked-in piece of baggage and one piece of carry on hand-luggage.

TOUR MANAGERAll TransIndus group tours include the services of an experienced tour manager who will greet you on arrival at your destination and escort you throughout the tour. They are knowledgeable, friendly and eager to ensure that you get the best out of your holiday. Where your tour crosses into neighboring countries, a local tour manager will take over.

EXPERT LOCAL GUIDESIn addition to your accompanying tour manager, local guides may join you to share their expert knowledge of their home territory in main cities and at sites of historical and archaeological importance. This also provides gainful employment for men and women from smaller towns and cities and is in keeping with our Responsible Tourism commitments.

ACCOMMODATIONTransIndus chooses its hotels carefully and places guests’ experience at the heart of this choice. We ensure accommodation is not only clean and comfortable, but that each property provides the best local experience it can. All rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and are of three and four star standard. All hotels have at least one restaurant and most also have a bar. Other leisure facilities including a gym, swimming pool and spa may also be available. Most are likely to have a foreign exchange counter, room service, a hotel shop for small incidentals and a business centre.

MEAL PLANSThe meal plan for most tours is bed and breakfast. On some days that involve a long journeys or overnight train travel packed meals will be provided, as specified in the itinerary. The meal plan on House Boats and in Jungle Lodges is usually full board.

SPECIAL REQUESTSIf you are celebrating a special occasion during your holiday, we would love to know about it as we may be able to help with your celebrations.

Requests for adjoining rooms are best made at the time of the booking, so we can inform the hotels as early as possible. However, rooms are allocated on the day of arrival and special requests are dependent on such rooms being available.

Requests for specific seating and special meals on international flights are best made directly with the airline carriers. If you require help with this, do please let your TransIndus travel consultant know as early as possible.

EXCURSIONSIn each destination, we offer a selected number of excursions or optional tours like a hot air balloon flight or cookery courses. These can be purchased at a supplementary cost, either at the time of your booking, immediately prior to your departure or while on holiday. Please speak with your travel consultant for more information.

STOPOVERS Overnight stopovers can be arranged, in some cities, to pace your international journey. If your departure is scheduled on an indirect-flight which involves an en-route halt we can arrange a longer stay at the transit destination. Ask your travel consultant for more information.

The balance amount for your holiday is must be paid no later than 8 weeks before departure; Final documentation will not be released unless full payment has been received by due days and If payments are delayed without notification or adequate reason we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled retaining the deposit. If the booking is made within 8 weeks of departure, the full cost of the holiday is payable at the time of booking.

While in most instances we are able to confirm all the arrangements within a few weeks of receiving the order, in some instances changes may be required or some confirmations may take longer. If we need to make a significant change to the itinerary booked, it is done with your concurrence. It is thus important that you give us your contact telephone numbers, both for daytime and evenings, so that changes can be communicated, discussed and implementated.

For minor variations in the itinerary we do not make supplementary charges nor do we offer reductions. If however the cost variation exceeds 2% of the total holiday price (excluding visa), you may be required to pay the difference, if the costs go up, or become entitled to a refund, if the costs go down.

If the very nature of the holiday changes due to non-availability of significant portion(s) of the tour, such as internal flights, we will ourselves offer you the option of a later departure or cancellation with full refund. An exception to this condition may be made for bookings within 8 weeks of departure. In such instances we may have to pay non-refundable deposits for confirming certain portions of the itinerary. If such last minute bookings are cancelled due to non-availability of some portion(s) of the holiday, we would expect you to pay for the costs incurred by us.

These include your international flight tickets (if purchased through us), final itinerary, local contacts at your destination, baggage tags, some useful tips and suggestions including on tipping, etc. Vouchers for hotels and internal travel, etc., are delivered on arrival at the destination.

7. Price Guarantee

The price of your holiday is fully guaranteed. This guarantee isapplicable once we have accepted your booking via a BookingAcceptance Letter and is subject to all payments being received by duedates. The price guarantee applies to complete holidays bought fromus and does not cover the purchase of individual items such as airlinetickets or hotel rooms. Thus if a flight is quoted separately, it is notprotected against future cost increases prior to ticketing. Supplementssuch as club class upgrades or higher grade rooms in hotels are notcovered by this guarantee.

It may be noted that price variations due to increases in fuel surcharges and airport taxes are not governed by this guarantee.

8. Alteration or Cancellation by you

If you wish to alter your programme after the booking has been accepted, for reasons other than non-availability of the portion sought to be altered, an amendment fee of £50 per set of alterations per person will be charged, in addition to the cost increase caused by the alterations. Changing the date of departure will entail a higher amendment fee of £100 per person. If the alteration or date change is requested after the balance amount has become payable, higher costs may apply, especially if the change has a knock-on effect on the remaining arrangements or if suppliers have been paid.

Any requests for alteration, once the tour has begun, will be treated sympathetically but we cannot guarantee their implementation. Any costs incurred in making such alterations, by us or our agents, will be passed on to you and the unutilised portion of the holiday will attract 100% cancellation charges.

Should you wish to cancel your tour, you must notify TransIndus in writing stating the reasons for cancellation. In some cases you may be covered by your insurance policy. Such cancellation will deem to take place only on the date of receipt of your written request and will attract the following cancellation charges:

9. Cancellation of a tour by us before departure

We reserve the right to cancel a holiday on offer by us, without assigning reasons at any time over 8 weeks before departure date. If such cancellation takes place, we will offer you a comparable alternative or at your option refund all monies paid by you.

If a holiday cancellation takes place within 8 weeks of departure it will be for one of the following reasons:

a) Due to non-payment or late payment of the balance amount due. In such cases an alternative holiday or refund will not be available and cancellation charges will apply.

b) Due to circumstances beyond our control such as cancellation ofinternational or domestic scheduled service, technical problems with transportation, civil disorder or the threat of such, riots, strikes, natural disasters, accident or pollution, terrorist activity or the threat of such, war or the threat of war, etc. In deciding whether it is safe to visit a certain destination or not, we depend on the advice of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In such instances we may offer comparable alternative arrangements or if you choose, we may make a full refund of all monies paid.

c) Due to non-availability of significant portions of anitinerary. In suchinstances we may offer comparable alternative arrangements or at your option make a full refund of all monies paid except in cases where the booking is made within 8 weeks of departure.

In the unlikely event of us cancelling a holiday within 8 weeks of departure for reasons other than those listed above, we will offer you a compensation of £50 per person and if such cancellation is within 14 days of departure then a higher amount of £75 per person.

10. Alterations to your tour Programme by us

We will make all reasonable efforts to provide you with booked tour arrangements as per itineraries in the brochure but cannot rule out occasional changes and reserve the right to change accommodation, internal trains and flights or the sightseeing schedule due to availability or unforeseen circumstances.

If the changes are significant we will inform you of these before departure, if possible, and offer you comparable alternative arrangements or at your option make a full refund of all monies paid. A significant change is one that involves a change of airport for international flights to and from your holiday destination, the outward or return journey being rescheduled by more than twelve hours or the omission of a featured overnight stop in the itinerary. Where such changes take place for reasons within our control we will offer you a compensation of £25 per person if you had paid the full holiday price by the prescribed date. Where the change is due to circumstances beyond our control amounting to force majeure, such as weather conditions, technical problems, civil disorder, decisions by governments or other associations, etc., we will offer comparable alternative arrangements or if you choose refund fully the monies paid by you.

If any of the circumstances amounting to force majeure occurs during a tour we reserve the right to alter the tour programme, as required depending upon the circumstance, without offering any compensation. We may consider a refund for the unutilised portion of the tour if we are able to secure any refunds.

We reserve the right to cancel your holiday anytime during its operation if you are found to be behaving in a socially unacceptable manner or indulging in an illegal activity. In such cases no refund will be offered for the unutilised portion of the holiday and TransIndus will further claim from you the costs of your return to the parent country.

11. Your responsibility

The visa and health requirements are detailed separately in the brochure. It is your responsibility to ensure you have valid passports, visas, vaccinations, foreign exchange for personal expenses, etc., and we do not accept any liability for non-communication of relevant details to you. If any service offered by us is not clear, you should get written confirmation from us about its inclusion in the price.

12. Our responsibility

We accept responsibility for ensuring that the holiday which you book with us is supplied as described in this brochure, or any other literature printed by us, and the services offered reach a reasonable standard. In the unlikely event that any part is not provided as promised, for reasons within our control, we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your holiday. We accept responsibility for the acts and/or omissions of our employees, agents and suppliers except where they lead to death, injury or illness and except where the supplier is a government or quasi-government institution. Our liability in all cases shall be limited to a maximum of three times the cost of the portion of holiday adversely affected.

We accept responsibility for death, injury or illness caused by the negligent acts and/or omissions of our employees or agents together with our suppliers and sub-contractors, servants and/or agents of the same whilst acting within the scope of, or in the course of their employment in the provision of your holiday. We will accordingly pay to our clients such damages as might have been awarded in such circumstances under English Law.

In respect of carriage by scheduled air, sea, other water bodies like rivers and lakes, and rail transports the provision of accommodation and services in these are the responsibility of the providers of these transports and we merely act as agents for these providers. Our liability in all such cases will be limited in the manner provided by the relevant international convention. Thus if a scheduled flight or train or ship has delays or changes in schedule or cancellation of service we are not obliged to offer alternative arrangements, it is the providers of these services who are responsible. We will, however, try our best to assist in the provision of alternative services, if required, on receipt of appropriate payment for these.

If any client suffers death, illness or injury whilst overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part of the foreign inclusive holiday arrangement or excursion arranged through us, we shall, at our discretion, offer advice, guidance and assistance but are not liable for the consequences of such independent act.

If you avail of a service during the course of your holiday which is not part of your contract with us, we will not be liable for the provision of that service or its quality even if you purchase it through our agents or their representatives. Similarly if we recommend a restaurant or a shop or any reading material or any other establishment it is to assist you, and often at your request, and we do not accept any responsibility for the quality or content of the service received from these.

13. Inclusions and exclusions in the Tour Price

The inclusions and exclusions in the tour price are given on our website http://www.transindus.co.uk

14. Arbitration

If you have cause for complaint during the holiday please bring it to the notice of our Local representative/agent and/or the hotel who will try their best to solve the problem immediately. It is not advisable to do nothing about a problem when it occurs but to later write to us seeking recompense. If we feel we/our agents were not afforded an opportunity to redress a problem when it occurred, we will not be able to offer compensation if it is brought to our attention later/your return home. If the problem remains unresolved in spite of your pointing it out locally to our agents when it occurred, please write to us within 28 days of the completion of the holiday. We will investigate the complaint and respond to you within 28 days.

In the unlikely event of us not being able to reach an amicable settlement you may refer the dispute to an arbitrator appointed by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators under a special scheme devised for the travel industry. The scheme provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration based on documentation alone with restricted liability of the client in respect of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims greater than £5000 per person or £25000 per booking form or to claims, which are solely, or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness. The application for arbitration must be made within nine months of the date of return from the holiday but in special circumstances it may still be offered outside this period.

15. Data Protection Statement

Please be assured that we have measures in place to protect the personal booking information held by us. This information will be passed on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements. The information may also be provided to public authorities such as customs or immigration if required by them, or as required by law. Certain information may also be passed on to security or credit checking companies. If you travel outside the European Economic Area, controls on data protection may not be as strong as the legal requirements in Europe. If we cannot pass this information to the relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we will be unable to provide your booking. In making this booking, you consent to this information being passed on to the relevant persons. If we need to give your details to anyone other than those listed above we will do so only with your consent.

16. Jurisdiction

Your holiday contract with TransIndus is made on the terms of these Booking Conditions which are governed by English Law and both parties shall submit to the jurisdiction of English Courts at all times.

17. Validity

The prices given in our brochure and on our website are valid until 31st December 2014, with seasonal variations, and are subject to the price guarantee mentioned earlier. If you wish to travel after this date, we will be happy to provide you with a quotation.

18. Brochure Accuracy

While we have taken great care to ensure the information provided herein is accurate, there may be the occasional error in in advertised prices or itinerary content. We request you to kindly check the price and tour details with us at the time of booking.

FOR A CAUSE – Responsible TourismWhen our clients travel to distant lands they do so in the hope of seeing a destination at its best.

At TransIndus we make every effort to ensure that our holidays have a positive environmental, social and economic impact on local communities. We support local schools, wildlife conservation and village projects and favour the use of responsible local hotels, lodges and guest-houses.

We work closely with AiTO, Tourism Concern and the Travel Foundation in the UK along with resources within our own organisation to support sustainable projects. Projects include the Jeevika Trust, Seva Mandir, Jaipur Virasat, Travel Operators for Tigers (TOFT), Colachel and Sumavanam who support wildlife and communities in Rajasthan, Andhra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.

We encourage active participation among clients. This can be both fun and rewarding and we will be happy to include such visits to some of these projects in your tailor-made holiday, should you so wish.

The Travel Foundation: Founded in 2003, this is the UK travel industry’s own charity, set up to respond to concerns over the sustainability of travel and tourism, that it exists to protect and enhance the environment and to improve the well-being of destination communities as well as the holiday experience for visitors.

TransIndus works with the foundation to identify better, low impact operations. We also support the foundation by donating £1 per traveller to the foundation. For more information about the Travel Foundation click on http://www.thetravelfoundation.org.uk

Jeevika Trust: Founded in 1970 Jeevika, meaning ‘livelihood’ in Hindi, aims to help ‘village India’ embrace all the primary conditions for a viable, dignified and hopeful livelihood through work and employment. Jeevika focuses on ‘tackling the roots of poverty...by revitalising rural communities’ and developing skills amongst women and children in these areas. Jeevika’s work was concentrated around the Schumacher Institute for Appropriate Technology and Rural Development (SIAT), near Lucknow, but it extended its horizons across Orissa and Tamil Nadu in 2005. We at TransIndus are proud of be a part of the trust and help with fund raising and awareness activities.

You can make a donation through TransIndus or visit http://www.jeevika.org.uk/HowYouCanHelp/MakingADonation.htm to make a secure payment directly to the trust.

Karunya Kindergarten, Colachel: After the devastating Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, many TransIndus clients sent unsolicited contributions to us with the request that we make best use of the money. With this and a significant contribution of our own, we went to the fishing village of Colachel in coastal Tamil Nadu, devastated by the tsunami. With the aid of International donations the Lebenslicht Charitable Trust had helped build a village school for orphaned children and TransIndus promised to provide a hot lunch for the children to make sure they got at least one nutritious meal a day. Our involvement continues to date and we are proud to report a happy, healthy school community with lively children who enjoy learning through scholastic and extracurricular activities. To find out more visit http://www.lebenslicht.org/

If you wish to make a donation you can do so via TransIndus or directly to the Lebenslicht Charitable Trust: Account Number: 30004890358, LEBENSLICHT Charitable Trust, State Bank of India, Technopark Branch, Trivandrum, Swift Code: SBININBB565

Sumavanam: Sumavanam is a non fee-paying school catering to the under-privileged near Madanapalle in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, 3 hours’ drive from Bangalore. It is one of two schools financed by the Neel Bagh Trust, an educational trust set up in 1974 by David Horsburgh, MBE, a renowned educationist with the British Council. There are around 25 pupils in the school ranging in age from 5 to 18. If you would like to contribute to the school please make your cheques payable to the ‘Neel Bagh Educational Foundation’ and send them to TransIndus. The Foundation is administered in the UK by Lord Balfour of Burleigh.

The Jaipur Virasat Foundation ( JVF) is a charitable trust, set up in September 2002, to conserve Jaipur’s heritage, and brings together traditional creative arts and craft skills with modern market requirements and skills to generate employment. It hosts the Jaipur Heritage International Festival, held each January, which showcases the JVF’s work and features performances, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, parades and shopping bazaars. Many of our clients build their visits to Jaipur around the Festival and partake in some of the workshops designed to preserve the creative arts

of Rajasthan. We will be happy to build a visit to the festival for you.If you wish to make a donation to the JVF, you can do so via TransIndus or directly to the ‘Jaipur Heritage Trust Limited’, 119 Flood Street, London SW3 5TD. For more details you can visit www.jaipurfestival.org.

Pratham: Started in the slums of Mumbai in 1994, as a result of the vision of a couple of committed individuals, the goal of the Pratham team has been to ensure that “every child is in school... and is learning well”. Since its formation, Pratham has reached out to over a million children in 21 states in India. Community volunteers, mostly young enthusiastic women from slums themselves, implement the Pratham programmes. In 2000, The Global Development Network Award, sponsored by the World Bank / Government of Japan was awarded to Pratham, which was named as one of the top three “most innovative development projects”. You can send your contributions to TransIndus, making the cheque payable to “Pratham UK Ltd”. More details on www.pratham.org.

Travel Operators for Tigers (TOFT): A unique campaign founded by a group of concerned tour operators, TOFT has now expanded to become a pioneering international ‘collective action’ campaign, run by travel professionals, aimed at developing better tourism practices in wilderness areas and developing specific guidelines for operators and accommodation providers as well as visitors. The initiative also aims to empower local communities by involving them in tourism projects, creating employment and helping develop small sustainable business opportunities that support wildlife conservation, such as waste and water management, and trade cooperatives. http://www.toftigers.org/.

As part of this initiative, TransIndus has pledged to contribute £5 to a TOFT funded Community or Tiger Conservation Projects for every client of ours who visits a tiger reserve in India or Nepal for two nights or more. We will be pleased to add a similar contribution from you in your invoice unless you choose to opt out.
