Dearfriend,Forelevenyears,Malaikachildren’sHomehasbeencaringforvulnerablechildreninArusha,Tanzania,supportedsince2001byMalaikaChildren’sFriends,basedinItaly.Weprovideasafe, lovinghomeenvironmenttobabies,toddlersandteenagerswhohave been orphaned or abandoned, as well as dedicated outreach to reunitedfamilies. I am extremely proud of all our supporters, near and far, for yourencouragement,effortsandgenerosity.Lastyearwecelebratedthe10thanniversaryoftheopeningofourhomeinMoshono.We have grown so much – and so have the children! We remain commiIed toproviding support to children in need. A Note from the Founders…
Since2006,Malaikahasbecomeaspecialplaceforlotsofchildren.Manyarriveastoddlersorbabies.Ofthetenchildrenwhoarrivedinthefirst12monthsofMalaikaopening,ninearesOllbeingsupported,plusmanymorewhomwehavewelcomedinthelasttenyears.TheageprofilenowhoweverisdrasOcallydifferent:elevenchildrenareinprimaryschoolandfourhaverecentlyjoinedsecondaryschool.
Wearedelightedthatsomechildrenhavebeenreunitedwiththeirfamilies.Throughongoingoutreachwork,weconOnuetomonitortheprogressofeverychildandoffereducaOonalassistance.
Alongsideprovidingbasicneeds(goodnutriOon,astablelivingcondiOonandimportantly,love&affecOon),ourulOmategoalistoempowereverychildtobecomeself-reliantmembersoftheircommunity.ThekeytothisiseducaOon.

Theschoolsthatthechildrenareenrolledinoffersmallerclasssizesthanaverage,sufficientresourcesandahigherstandardofteaching.ManyofthechildrenatMalaikaaresomeofthemostwell-performingstudentsintheiryear-group.Forexample,therehasbeena100%passrateforofthosewhohavetakenthe11+naOonalexam,allowingthemtoprogresstosecondaryschool.WewantthistoconOnue.
