Short-term Gender consultant Sustainable artisanal Mining Project

Sustainable Artisanal Mining (SAM) Project by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Mongolia is implemented with a development goal of “An economically sustainable, environmentally responsible and human rights-based ASM sector in Mongolia benefiting from, and contributing to, global best practice regarding artisanal and small scale mining”.

The SAM project seeks to hire a short term Gender consultant in order to enhance understanding of Human Rights Based Approaches (HRBA) and gender mainstreaming among Artisanal and Small Scale Mining (ASM) communities through promoting best practices of male and female miners, single household heads and ASM organizations. terms of employment: 30 days (June 01, – July 31, 2016)

Main tasks:• Profile successes of life paths of male and

female miners, single household heads and ASM organizations both in English and Mongolian languages through field visits.

• Advice on announcement and selection of essay and photo competitions on HRBA and gender mainstreaming among ASM organizations and miners.

Requirements:• Higher university degree related to gender, social

work, social studies, anthropology and related fields,

• Specialized/Qualified in HRBA and Gender mainstreaming and at least 5 year experience in this field,

• Previous experience working on local communities, • Excellent article writing and editorial skills,• Precise working habits and computer literacy,• Ability to travel to countryside,• Good written skills both in Mongolian and English

languages.
