What about…

Austin, TX, the "Live Music Capital of the World," is the 11th largest city in the United States—and one of the country's fastest growing areas. From 2011-2012, over 25,000 new residents moved into the Austin region, earning it the title of "Boomtown" from Bloomberg.com. Today, 1.84 million people call the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area home.

Named Texas' capital city in 1839, today's Austin is a center for government, education, business, and technology. Apple, eBay, Google, IBM, Intel, Texas Instruments, and Whole Foods Market are just some of the Fortune 500 companies that are located in the region—drawn in by the region's business-friendly atmosphere, youthful energy, and mild climate.

Culture and Innovation

Austin's South by Southwest Festival scene is perhaps its most well-known creative event, featuring music, film, conferences, and emerging technology. The festival takes place each spring and has a huge economic impact on the region.

Austin City Limits, the longest-running music show on TV, is taped at the city's Moody Theater. Many other music festivals occur throughout the year. Film buffs enjoy the city's Austin Film Festival, while theater buffs take in shows at the Zachary Scott Theatre Center, The Paramount Theatre, and The Long Center for the Performing Arts.
