Advancing ProductivityAdvancing Productivity is our commitment to business sustainability solutions built from high-performance products, lubrication services and industry expertise to help deliver operational safety, reduce environmental impact and improve productivity.
Mobil industrial lubricants are here to help you do three critical things: Improve industrial productivity, maintain a safe operating environment and minimize the environmental footprint of your operation.
We refer to these combined goals as Advancing Productivity.
How do we do it? By providing you with the most effective industrial lubricants combined with our advanced technical services for solutions to help you meet the challenging demands of your machines and your industry.
Some of the services we offer to help you Advance Productivity are:• Lubrication Survey/Study• Lubrication Calculations• Equipment Inspections• Failure Analysis
• Oil Analysis• Optimised oil drain intervals• Staff training
Our long-life lubricants can help enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance, which limits potential employee risks and the possibility of leaks and spills.
Our advanced lubricants can offer energy-efficiency benefits that lower energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They also can provide for longer service intervals, which can reduce lubricant disposal and related maintenance waste.
Enhanced equipment uptime and efficiency can boost your competitive edge by reducing production costs, maintenance expenses and equipment replacement.

Lubrication SurveyBefore you first start using Mobil oils and greases one of our Lubrication Engineers will conduct a Lubrication Survey, this will usually involve a tour of your sites to take stock of what equipment you have and what lubricants are applied.
Lubrication Surveys are also conducted/updated periodically with existing businesses to ensure the right lubricants and greases are being used to extract the most value from our lubricants and your equipment.
The survey could include:
• What oils and greases are best suited for each application
• Recommendations for frequency of lubricant application
• Review of existing lubricant handling equipment and potential improvements/upgrades
• Rationalisation of lubricants recommendations• Recommendations for oil analysis • Other lubrication related tasks such as filter checks

“The right oil, in the right place, at the right time.”Hiram B. Everest, FounderThe Vacuum Oil Company (which later became ExxonMobil)
Lubrication CalculationsLubrication Calculations are often completed in conjunction with Lubrication Surveys, but they can be conducted separately on individual pieces of equipment. The calculations are made to ensure the correct viscosity lubricants are use for specific applications and applied at the right frequency.
Outside of Lubrication Surveys these are typically conducted following equipment failure or unexpected operation to ensure the lubricants used are correct to assist with root cause analysis.
Lubricant Calculations help:
• Optimise lubricant use, both grease and oil• Target problem components• Avoid under and over greasing
Equipment InspectionsMobil Serv Advance Analysis
Equipment Inspections involve one of our Lubrication Engineers carrying out inspections on your equipment so they can make recommendations to help optimise lubrication conditions and improve equipment life. We can conduct Equipment inspections on most forms of equipment including:
• Gear inspections• Bearing inspections• Leak/oil consumption surveys• Hydraulic inspections• Engine inspections
Beyond the standard Equipment Inspections we also have access to the Mobil Serv Advanced Analysis Lab based in Sarnia, Canada, where ExxonMobil’s team of Engineers will conduct an in-depth investigative analysis of lubricated equipment to provide insights to:
• Root cause failure analysis• Lubricant condition/performance• Reliability of machine components• Filter life issues• Deposits on system components• Environmental contamination• Lubricant compatibility
Mobil Serv Advanced Analysis is offered to Mobil customers free of charge.
Oil Drain Interval OptimisationOne of the goals of our Lubrication Engineer is to ensure you are getting the most out of your equipment and one of the ways we do this is by optimising the oil drain intervals.
This involves utilising Mobil Serv data and reports to analyse the effectiveness of the oil in your equipment, combining this with equipment inspections we can help
you extend the life of your oil until it reaches the optimal point. Doing this allows you to minimise equipment downtime without risking failures.
Evaluating resultsWe examine our findings to deliver a data-driven action plan.
Staying connectedDocumenting performance via field testing Staying connected We safeguard your fleet’s success with long-term expert support.
Feasibility analysisWe study your fleet to determine needs and establish goals.
A historical used oilanalysis (UOA) review is performed to assess the health of your fleet.
Documenting performancevia field testingWe monitor the fleet while it’s operating under revenue-generating service to help guide our recommendations.
Final Optimized ODI recommendations are offered by ExxonMobil technical experts.
Ongoing education and training on the Optimized ODI Process is provided.

Driven by data and powered by Mobil lubricants, the ExxonMobil Optimized Oil Drain Interval (ODI) Process helps fleets extend service intervals, empowering you to:
• Lower total operating costs
• Generate a higher returnon capital
Mobil Lubricants
A target Optimized ODI is established and a field test protocol is developed.
Your fleet’s duty cycle and maintenance practices are evaluated.
Data on your fleet’s operations is gathered by employing a UOA sampling regimen.
UOA test results are analysed.
An oil analysis regimen is established for program stewardship.
Customized UOA progress reports uncover continuous improvement opportunities.
Periodic reviews ensure your business objectives are being met.
The field test protocol targets trucks that are most representative ofyour fleet’s duty cycle(s).
OPTIMISED
TrainingOur Lubrication Engineers conduct training sessions covering topics such as: lubricant function and composition, lubrication of bearings, gears and engines, and lubricant safety, storage and handling. They emphasize application and technical issues to create an awareness of the significant impact of lubrication practices — and apply the lubrication expertise of Mobil lubricants to your practices.
We work with you to:
• Discuss a list of potential topics to obtain agreement on needs, priority, involvement, timing, business goals and key challenges
• Work out training program and facility needs with plant personnel
• Identify, select and extend invitations to attendees• Confirm training plan and logistics Our knowledgeable personnel present well-prepared and professionally delivered training on lubrication topics and related maintenance issues — and also document the estimated value of that training.
Common opportunity areas
• Misapplication of lubricants• High oil consumption• Premature wear/failure of equipment• Unscheduled downtime• Improper storage and handling
We know that safety, health and environmental factors are all important to you, so we can:
• Educate plant personnel on safety, health and environmental issues related to lubricants and lubrication practices
• Be available to conduct additional custom-tailored clinics (such a Storage and Handling)
• Verify equipment electrical and mechanical lockout, proper tagging and potential explosion hazards prior to working on or conducting demonstrations on equipment
• Provide recommendations to help reduce the hazards associated with spill, leakage and fire
• Provide applicable material safety data sheets for the lubricants supplied by Mobil
