i tend not to trust docs but higher testosterone levels have more benefit than the side

effects, more energy, sex drive and overall manlier feeling lol

how do they test that? (and if not too personal, why?)

I've never been told one way or the other.. never been brought up at the doctors...

Testosterone levels can be checked with a simple blood test. You see the ads for

Testosterone replacement on TV - not feeling like your younger self...

Not a bad idea to get checked at about 45-50 years old.

Yeah I went to the Dr. for a physical he ordered blood panels for Cholesterol and liver

function, kidney function etc. One of those tests included testosterone, it explains alot that's

been going on with me lately. No drive to do anything, low libido, extra weight gain but no

drastic change in eating habits, depression. My concern with the AndroGel is that it is

transferable upon skin to skin contact and can be harmful for children or breastfeeding

mothers which both are in my household. The Dr. says it needs to be rubbed in on the

shoulder or stomach area, then cover with a t shirt and they will be fine just wash hands

thoroughly after application. I don't know if i want to take that risk.

I believe your last sentence says it all...the risk of transference...perhaps he can recommend

another way..maybe a nutritionist.. and diet and exercise...I'm not very sure but many

believe in doing things more natural... slowly rather than a quick fix start slopping down

those CLAMS and oysters..justkidding.....but maybe there's another way?

BTW..CONGRATS..DAD...happy belated fathers' day

I too have Low T....and I used the androgel for awhile...tough to rub in to your skin when

you are hairy..lol. I am also in the beginning stages of type 2 diabetes. The diabetes lowers

your testosterone levels. That may be an issue for you as well? I was also tested with an MRI

for a pituitary tumor which couold cause hypogonadism, which is the fancy term for low t.

Page 6: Low Testosterone - help

The andogel worked to well as I found myself to be to aggresive on it. Please discuss it more

with your doctor. Hope it works out well for you.....best regards, Michael

I think this is going to be a trend in the medical arena. There is definitely a money making

scheme in play.... anytime you see TV adds for a new drug, and then doctors start to

prescribe it, there is something going on.

You should look into the natural testosterone boosters or food that boost it... that is if it is

really even low. quick search...came up with this article

if you're concerned about transference to kids, etc. then ask yur doc if he can give you

Cypionate or Enanthate. they normally come in 200mg shots and for the purposes of

testosterone level increase can be adminitered probably once ever 2 weeks ro so. it'd be a

shot so if ya can take it.

I have low levels but when I went to pick up the gel I was informed that my INS would not

cover it and it was like $200-$300 per month. So I have no idea as to any issues with taking

it.

There are other things that don't have near the side effects and are very inexpensive. Try

DHEA 25-50mg morning and night for 30-60 days and get re-tested. Good Luck - get on the

internet and read about it.

Just curious as to what the Dr. is recommending that you take?

Hey, John!

My Dr. first prescribed the Andro gel a couple of years ago. It was a bother and I, too was

concerned about the transference. I now visit his office every 3 weeks for an injection and

am very satisfied with the results. If I run late with the injection I can now feel the

difference. The treatment has cured me of "Grumpy Old Man" satus as well as improvements

in other areas of my life (all according to Kay).

Strangely, my insurance completly covers the cost of the injections, and covered none of the

costs of the gel.

Ask your doc.

The injections are easily done at home. Injectible medications are more readily covered by

insurance.

That is really low. My level was on the low end of normal and I told my doctor I wanted it to be on the high end of normal. He prescribed

testosterone shots that I can give myself in the thigh or my wife usually gives them to me in the rear.

It has to injected inter-muscularly so those are the two best places. My

doctor told me that it works much better and faster than the topical versions. I haven't had one bad side effect from it. I can tell the difference if your

testosterone is that low you will feel the difference as well.

You can shoot me a PM if you have any questions. __________________

I can appreciate and share those symptoms but my results came back "fine". I do

remember being floored when the bill came for the blood tests checking for Low-

T... $650! Hope all works out well for you...

I have that option as well. But I don't have the nerve. And I'm pretty sure that Kay would

get way too much enjoyment out of it.

Thanks for all the insight fellas!! I did get the gel however I am going to talk to my Dr. on

my next visit to see if I can have an alternate method. I just don't want to take the risk of

my son or wife getting sick or having side effects because they touched the area where the

gel was applied. I applied it today and washed my hands like 5 times already and i'm

wearing an undershirt and a t shirt just to be cautious. I will also take an additional shower

before bed because I just can't sleep with a shirt on!!! I was tested for Diabetes and they

were negative so I don't believe that's an issue. I really appreciate all of the replies thanks

so much!!

One med may work for you while another may not. The patches are about 300.00 a month.

The testosterone injectible are once a month and you can do it yourself. It cost about 30.00

for a 8 month supply of injectible medicine. A low PSA can lead to prostate problems and

cancer etc. To high can cause problems as well. As with any drug they may fix one thing but

throw something else out of balance. Your level is too low, you will need to get it up, It will

also give you more strength and endurance. Take care.

I am into my second month, had my prostate sucked out of me two years ago T levels fell to

56. I'm using a patch .25 first month .50 second month taking it slow as to not trigger any

free floating Cancer cells. limited results are good so far no negative reactions to date

You can also use saliva test which you can order through some pharmacies of health

supplement stores. Their are also natural methods out there for boosting testosterone

and they may work for you also although the gel or injections would probable be the fastest,

I don't know how well alot of the natural solutions work but I have read quite alot of

testimonies in magazines and online.

wait a minute. of you guys that have used the injectable testosterone (In other words-

steroids), you mean, you experienced no side effects, no rage, no mood swing, and you're

still alive. yous didnt die...Wow, maybe us bodybuilders arent that wrong afterall...

obviously i was being sarcastic, but the media wud have you think that using test will kill you

and cause all sorts of roid rage and bad sides. those of you here have had great results for

it's intended purpose and have gotten back to yur normal life function...

like i said earlier cypionate, enanthate, maybe even some mild propionate is suitable every 2

to 3 weeks. which mean a 10cc bottle should last you 5 months...even if yur insurance

doesnt cover it, the botle will cost youmaybe $150 on black market so script will be less.

that's to get blood serum levels back up. to get yur sperm count up for those of you trying to

have children and shooting less desirable soldiers...try HCG @ 500-1000 IUs per day.

(maybe soem clomid @ 50mg/day) i gurrantee within a month your girl will be prego.
