1 1 I am a Creative Designer dedicated to enhancing the aesthetic of the world. Although this hasn’t always been my profession, I have always been in love with design. I obtained an advanced diploma in animation and new media where I was given the opportunity to be creative on a digital platform. This was where I developed a keen interest in taking projects from concept to completion. I have travelled and lived in a number of interesting places in Southern Africa as well as abroad. During this time I gained valuable experience in sales, marketing and tourism related industries. All the while design had been my mistress, and at some point we all have to make it official and commit. However, when I am not geing creative I enjoy spending time with my family and my chosen family. I am addicted to good movies, criticising adverts and looking for new challenges. I am a Creative Designer dedicated to enhancing the aesthetic of the world.

However, when I am not getting creative I enjoy spending time with my family and my chosen family. I am addicted to good movies, criticising adverts and looking for new challenges.

Vehicle Branding Concept

Logo Design

Rustic and colonial, Vintage Camps Africa is based outside Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. This logo was created to emulate a colonial emblem and banner with colouring relative to its era. However, the simplicity of the graphics resembling tents and then flipped over to resemble birds flying into the sunset is a fresh step away from the generic, complexity of the ‘victorian’ type logos that are the norm. Christie Jensen is a professional artist who specializes in collectable auto mobile art, The first painting she ever sold was that of a VW bus. Logo Design Artisan Meats: Clients choiceArtisan Meats is a new cured meats franchise for the Zimbabwean and Namibian markets. The A’s in the logo are designed to emulate meat knives on a magnet running through the text. The client was looking for a sophisticated and clean logo unlike the generic butchery logos.

Colour Options QR ScannerAfter a few attempts of trying to portray various materials and their colour options without crowding and over complicating artwork a simple yet effective solution was found using an icon in the form of a QR Scanner code. Simply scan the icon with your hand-held device and all the available colours for a specific product are available at your finger tips. This icon is now a regular feature in Rochester artwork. Eureka!

Corporate IdentityA brand logo is a visual statement of a company’s vision, values, strength and integrity. By following a corporate identity manual, you help define an organisation for its customers, partners, and employees. Equally important, you help them recognise, differentiate, and remember the brand. It is an extremely valuable asset and a corporate identity guide (CI) is produced to help people who use the brand to understand how it must be correctly and consistently applied. It offers a framework for making and evaluating creative decisions

Corporate Identities are generally a long and meticulous process involving consistency and detail and therefore it is not ideal to place a full corporate identity into a portfolio. So to briefly demonstrate creativity and consistency three panels from two companies have been extracted and placed below.

Wallpaper DesignBelow are a few concepts created for wallpaper designs. On the left are concepts intended for a Spanish themed restaurant and on the right are concepts for a private home theatre. These designs were created almost entirely in Adobe Photoshop however the pattern in the two top left images was created in Adobe Illustrator.

Deep EtchingWhen it comes to deep etching, it is more about the patience and precision than the technicalities of the execution. Formscaff are a large formwork and shoring company who take pride in the flagship red colouring of their brand and products. for this particular project they wanted the red colour to be emphasized in these images for their website. See http://formscaff.com/

IllustrationI was commissioned to illustrate 12 portraits of ANC presidents from 1912 to date. I drew the portraits with pencil on A3, upon conclusion they were expanded into large, individual drop-down banners to about 8m x 1m each. The banners were used as the backdrop behind the podium at the opening of parliament at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in February 2009. Below are illustrations of the more iconic leaders in recent history.

Tattoo ArtCreating an ambigram is like solving a puzzle, the process is a case of trial and error until the pieces fit. Ambigrams are generally a word or phrase that remains identical when rotated 1800. This is the case with the design at the top half of the page with reads ‘Good Intentions With Bad Results’ upon closer inspection.

Ambigrams however don’t necessarily have to remain the same once flipped over for example the design at the bottom half of the page reads “Jodi’ and when it is rotated it reads ‘Mitch’.

1) A photograph of the tattoo.

Tattoo ArtIn this particular case the client had obviously made a bad decision regarding the original artwork and wanted it to be rectified with a tribal cover-up piece relative to new beginnings and spreading your wings. The steps from concept to completion are listed below.

The Challenge The Result

2) The solution to making the tattoo symmetrical was to duplicate it in Photoshop and and flip it horizontally onto itself to create a ‘skeleton.’

3) With an even image to work with, execution of a pencil outline for a tribal design concept was created.

The process from concept through to completion

The final art work, traced in Adobe illustrator as a perfectly symmetrical vector image

Created as a gift. The leaves are butterflies, the outline of the tree and roots create a skull.

The person this was create for is a Gemini (twins), hence the identical people under the

tree branches, also double as eyes in the ‘skull.’
