The academy day Our day starts at 8.55am. Our gates are open at 8.50am ready to welcome you all. Children can come straight into school and get started with their learning; children who are late miss out on valuable learning time. All staff are available on the playground at the end of the day so that you may ask questions or make an appointment to come into school. PLEASE ENSURE YOU SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A BOTTLE. Our PE days are: Miss Wilkinson (Tuesday and Wednesday), Mrs Gillett (Monday and Wednesday), Miss Lomas (Monday, Thursday and Friday) and Mr Davies (Monday, Tuesday and Friday). Children should bring a PE kit so that it is in school for when needed. It can then be returned home on a Friday. Home work is given out every Friday. Please return by Wednesday. Maths or Writing activities will be included for you to complete with your child. We put a high emphasis on reading in school with daily reading activities. It’s our expectation that all children read at least 3 times per week at home. We ask that parents read with children and sign reading diaries at least 3 times a week (ideally every night). All payments to school should be made via School Gateway. Our attendance target is 97% - Please help your child to be in school at every opportunity. We will talk about where we have been on holiday and compare a seaside town to Rudheath.

…and find out about the important role of lighthouses.

We will find out about which jobs there are at the seaside…

We will be reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch by Ronda and David Armitage.

We will also talk about what we like to do at the seaside…

…and compare seaside holidays today to seaside holidays in the past.

We will be studying different types of habitats and seeing how animals are suited to where they live...

We will look at the lifecycles of different types of animals..

…and decide what animals need to survive

We will scientifically sort different sea creatures…

…and discover where the shark is in the food chain

We will be reading Could a shark do gymnastics? by Aleksei Bitscoff and Camilla de la Bedoyere
